"But in my view this has been the season that Lewis Hamilton has established himself as the modern day Michael Schumacher.
Forced to start the season in a McLaren car that was way behind the technical innovations of the Brawn team, he still forced every last second of speed from it. In the F1 equivalent of a sewing machine on wheels, he scored nine points in the early part of the campaign with arguably the best driving of the season. Once his car became remotely competitive he was up there winning, getting 40 points from the last seven races."

Dunno, but it'll be interesting to count them in 10 years' time. Potentially, he could win four or five of the next 10 given his results to date and his performances this year. That's assuming he can win it in the years when McLaren produce a good car, as opposed to the dogs they build almost every other year. The car makes it possible. Only the driver can make it happen.

I wish Lewis would do some funny moves like Alonso used to do
Like the Phoenix or some weird animal stuff...

I think now that the Ferrari is not on the level that many hoped, Alonso will come out and express how he was a fan of Brawn GP ever since he was racing karts as a wee toddler

It's probably the most dominant fuel-corrected pole of the season:

I've always wondered why Hamilton seems to "group" his downshifts more than others(i.e. ~52 secs in that vid he goes "BRAKE.downdowndown..downdown...down"
then at ~1:09 "BRAKE..downdown..downdown.down")
As opposed to someone like Raikkonen who seems to do evenly spaced downshifts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBcm_n3RZxg at ~14 secs he does "BRAKE...down.down.down.down..down)
Maybe there are other people that do this too, but I just seem to notice it much more watching Hamilton. I wonder if this has any effect on the car under braking?"And they're disappearing now like ice cubes in the desert" - Murray Walker during the 1990 Australian Grand Prix.

Yeah you're right. Re-watching that pole lap it's really obvious. I wonder if it has anything to do with charging the KERS under braking?

I believe that as long as McLaren provide a competitive car, Lewis will win his second WDC next year. I think he has reached new heights as a driver this year. The challenge of going through a difficult season has helped him more than anything else could have at this point in his career. I don't see another driver beating him in comparable machinery next season.

That's his driving style.
Those who "traverse" the corner more will use the gears to help balance the speed through it.
Hamilton is all about heavy on the brakes, chuck it in, and get out of the corner ASAP - normally with an armful of opposite lock.
See my sig for another guy who employed such a technique

Really shame that Lewis couldn't end the season with a win, but we all know he would have walked away with that race if it wasn't for the brake problems (which he had from the start of the race). No-one to blame as Macca rarely have mechanical issues, so it was just 'one of those things'.
Let's look forward to next season, and nice to have Lewis win the 'best of the rest' WDC , and Macca getting the 'best of the rest' WCC !!!

From Jake's blog - describing his favourite interview of the season, nice words:
« One of our big wishes for this year was to try to get to know Lewis Hamilton a little better. He has been brought up speaking to the media, being made aware of sponsors' requirements and saying the 'right thing'. We were keen to get to know the real Lewis Hamilton.
After the 'lie-gate' scandal in Australia where Hamilton misled the race stewards we were able get his side of the story. For the previous few days he had been vilified in the press, had his sporting integrity called into question and been under the most enormous, unpleasant pressure. Sure, it comes with the job but it doesn't make it any easier when you're a young guy.
We met in the hotel lobby and the stress was clear to see. While we took a golf buggy to the interview location, Lewis hardly said a word and I was genuinely worried for him - he looked to me like a guy being slowly crushed by what was happening to him.
To his and his family's enormous credit, Lewis gave an honest, revealing and totally open interview, explaining how close he came to packing it all in.
Since then it's been a positively upwards curve and he's learnt how this game isn't always podiums and champagne. He's grown up, driven brilliantly and been a very warm person, who I've enjoyed getting to know
