As I remember, later on he admitted it was flat out.
wasnt that spectacular
yeah I remember that. Great slide! Did not take off leg of the throttle. Almost pole there.
Massa move great too! But if you listen to the sound of the engine you will notice he took leg off Mika's sliding before the end of the track was great! And the first video of schumi - he just kept pushing like it never happened!BMW F1.09 - fastest car on the grid, starting from Turkey 2009. ...did I say "2009" or 2010"?2011?...

I've got a clip of Montoya in the wet in brazil when he was at Williams. It then cut's to a picture of the mechanics watching it 'slack-jawed' on the monitor.
I reckon we can have lots of such videos from Alonso in the trolleys he drove in 2008 and 2009.
I'm going to get in a lot of s**t for this. But if you ask me, Alonso's not dealing too well with the lack of traction control! He himself complained that they'd banned it, saying that F1 is supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsport technology and banning TC diminishes this trait.
I was expecting the slide to come from the downshifts through turn one, but to see it upon application of power (and such a sharp application at that), is further evidence imo. The only thing in his defense I can think of, is that he might have been attempting to spin the rear wheels just to bed them in, since they were new, or whatever.
I also remember back in '01 or '03, Brundle saying something like "Fernando Alonso doesn't know anything between no throttle and full throttle"...

There's some great clips on here but nearly all of them show car control as controlling slides but surely going very fast with no slides is real car control.
