The only thing I'm personally waiting is iRacing's scan of Williams FW31. They will get data straight from Williams and it will probably just be awesome It was even a headline in autosport! One William's employee said that this will be the first game to get this much actual data from an F1 team. He also revealed some things about their own simulator:
"Firstly Jimmy is a colleague of mine and he, like me gets fed up with the "they use rFactor/NetKarPro etc etc" that we see on various forums. Sure WilliamsF1 have partnerships with various people like BallRacing, they provide our "entertainment" simulators aka games, that run rFactor, so if you see a WilliamsF1 simulator at a show or exhibition then you'd see one of those. It has absolutely NO relation to our in-house simulator. As Jimmy says we have written the ENTIRE code from scratch over the past 20 years (unlike other teams), the physics run on more than one PC, and unlike computer games the physics talk direct to a real SECU."
"I'm very excited about this, other than Geoff Crammonds GP2 this is the only sim/game I know of that will get the same level of technical input from a Formula 1 team. With he data that we'll be giving iracing it should be the first realistic sim of a modern day F1 car (instead of the games guesstimates)."

To me all those pictures look like artistic impressions not actual gameplay screens.... They're blurred and seem 'painted'...
I know from Dirt 2 that Codemasters can make a stunning game but I cant see that in the pictures...
Helios (Community manager) has confirmed on the official forum that these are in game shots. There is an media day at codies HQ on the 17th and a few lucky forumers have been invited along. Been told to bring their cameras and video cameras too. So we should see some video next week

Im not holding my breath. Codemaster's has been giving us pretty much arcade games for a while now and even though they say the sim options will be there, I will believe it when I see it!
They will get nowhere near Rfactor for physics imo, although I do hope I am wrong.
There was a story a while ago that the GT guy (his name?) wants to make an F1 game in the future. That I would look forward to. Although going on GT5 it would take a century to make We don't control our brain, our brain controls us - Sir Stirling Moss.

Pitpass have done a preview of it, and it seems to indicate a September release, which always sounded more realistic to me than June/July as many have suggested.

All these games may look cool with their spectacular graphics but i still think F1 mania with birkuc tracks is the most interesting game and is closest to the real thing!
If this game is too much like an arcade game, i think people will get bored. At least in games like NFS and other games there is an element of surprise, here just circulating endlessly without emphasis on the setup will definitely not be too interesting!
I think the closer to the real deal, the people will appreciate the real F1 more! I for one fell in love with the real F1 only after realizing how difficult it is to gain 0.1 of a second per lap when one change in setup suddenly affects the whole car's balance!
I feel the more people understand the technicalities of F1 cars, the better they will understand the sport and appreciate it even more. With the steering wheel being given away with this game for the XBox (which is a great initiative), if people need to opposite lock when braking into a corner, the game automatically will draw interest and curiosity towards it as compared to people needing to mash buttons or a joy stick to get the car to turn in.
The visuals of this game though look stunning! Alonso vs Massa vs Schumi vs Nico vs Hami vs Jensi vs Vettel vs Webber(meh!)...1 full year prep for Mclaren and Ferrari with Merc and Red Bull already very fast!! F1 2010 to be all gain or all lost at bahrain!

The last F1 game I used to own for Pc was EA F1 Challenge 99-01.. .
I thought that was a very good game. Ralph Hummerlich made up until 2005 or 2006 seasons available for free.
Any of you guys played this game? How was it compared to rFactor?
I think the physics were pretty good, but then again, I have no clue if that is true....
f1 challenge is a great game, I still play it now. doesn't feel too realistic these days though, and it was limited by having the same physics for every set of cars, not the individual cars. absolutely amazing to play multiplayer on 7 years later though.
rFactor is made by the same company who did the physics engine for f1 challenge so it feels like a tweaked version of it. the physics are a bit better and each car has its own physics instead of being assigned to a carset. not sure how realistic either of them are, but both games are fun to play

You can even run over your lollipop man. I'm sold!!
It's what every F1 game needs!!
A safety car for "man on track" or "deer on ckt" occasionally would be really hilarious too!

Looking at how good the graphics look and the recent games of Codemasters i see no reason why this game would be any good, physics which are for me the most important will probably suck big time as in all latest Codemasters games.
I don't think we will see such a good F1 game anymore as F1 Challenge 99-02 or the F1 mods for rfactor.

# Safety Car – A common forum request but investigation proved, surprisingly, that this actually offers very little in terms of enjoyable game experience in comparison to other game elements we’ll reveal later. Once you find out what we spent the time on instead we’re sure you’ll agree that this was the right decision!
# Formation Lap – Currently not part of the plan, for the same reasons as safety car. This is not to say we won’t look to add a little of what the formation lap provides!
Damn, it's little details like this that make a game special in my opinion."And they're disappearing now like ice cubes in the desert" - Murray Walker during the 1990 Australian Grand Prix.

I have high hopes. Despite the regular bashing F1CE gets, I enjoyed that game immensely. It still is fun.
BTW MotoGP 09/10 is a letdown. The control scheme is dreadful. I had huge hopes for that game but the demo has been a huge disappointment to me. The graphics are ordinary, the sound is abysmal. I really can't believe how mediocre it is.

Drivers thoughts about the game.
Mark Webber: "Well, I have my own game, its a simulator, and I can race in real life so nothing bothers me. No safety car is understandable I suppose, the FIA change the rules every five seconds so they could have done loads of work and then see them squash it. No formation lap is odd though, as that is simple. We even practice that in the simulator."
Lewis Hamilton: "I still play F1:CE, and I love that so I have high hopes for the game. Safety cars could ruin races for me this year so to be honest, I don't fancy the same happening to me when I'm relaxing at home."
Fernando Alonso: "I really only play them to learn a track, so I might learn Korea both on the game and in the simulator. I don't car about safety car or formation lap, I just do time trial."
Jaime Alguersuari: "I'm still such a fanboy when it comes to F1 games, so to not have the safety car is just crushing. But, I am sure that the other elements of the game will help the game. Hopefully that'll be in the 2011 edition, yes?"
Sebastien Buemi: "No safety car? When did I miss this!? Ok, not good, but the career mode I read about earlier this week sounds good, I can be more free about my opinion of the team..." (he apparently winked at the reporters when he said that)
Bruno Senna: "I love F1 games, all the years I did not race I battered Schumacher like crazy, haha. That won't happen this year...anyway, I think Codemasters will do a great job, with or without requested features."
Karun Chandhok: "I just cannot wait to see HRT and myself on the screen in an F1 game, how cool is that?"Marcus Ericsson!

For those of you interested about the game I just thought I'd quickly post to let you know that due out on IGN at around 9am (UK Time) tomorrow we have going live, the first in a series of developer video diaries, 3 new screenshots, and finally an extensive feature about the game, written by Martin Robinson who is IGN's resident racing expert.
