Hi guys,

I'm thinking of putting together a 2012 season review clip. Hoping to get some feedback from the forum regarding what moments are essential to include to best tell the story of the year, and how you'd like to see them portrayed?

Besides the obvious clips, e.g. race starts, major crashes, etc.

Some ideas to get us started:

-Stories prior to the start of the year, e.g. Vettel defending champion after dominating the previous year, Raikkonen returning
-Maldonado's crash in Aus and subsequent crashes elsewhere, contrasted with his victory in Spain
-Perez closing on Alonso in Malaysia before falling off the track
-Vettel and Karthikeyan coming together and the resulting outburst ("cucumber")
-Protests at Mercedes' DDRS
-Rosberg's first win
-Schumacher's terrible fortune at the start of the year
-Protesting about the race in Bahrain
-Raikkonen closing in and attacking Vettel in Bahrain, but not being able to get past
-Rosberg forcing Alonso and Hamilton off the track
-Hamilton being excluded from qualifying in Barcelona
-Schumacher's pole in Monaco prior to his penalty being enforced
-Button's struggles in the early-mid season
-The amazing spectacle of Valencia, including Vettel's domination, sudden retirement, and Alonso coming through the field before celebrating by parking his car in front of his home fans
-The controversy of Hamilton being lapped in Germany, and Vettel passing Button off the track
-Rivals and pundits criticising Grosjean after the start crash in Belgium, and him receiving a one race ban
-The controversy of Vettel forcing Alonso off at Monza and the resulting penalty
-The retirements of Vettel, Button and Webber
-Hamilton's retirement from the lead in Singapore, Vettel in tears on the podium
-Vettel's late-season winning streak
-Alonso retiring in Japan and the implictions for the championship with Vettel winning
-Massa being told not to pass Alonso in Korea
-Hamilton driving around with astroturph hanging from his car
-Vettel being disqualified from qualifying in Abu Dhabi, before coming through to finish third
-Raikkonen's first win since coming back
-The swearing debacle on the podium

Let me know what you think :)

I think the only things that will stand the test of time will be

- Vettel's come from behind win in the WDC (possibly ... if he wins it)
- 7 different winners in the first 7 races

Awesome! Looking forward to the video already!

Please portray the events with an unbiased view. For instance, Vettel in Ab Dhabi, some say he is lucky, some disagree. Please portray that event in the video showing him overtaking but also show the safety cars etc. If you biased, you'll only show the safety cars and Vettel getting free passes.

Some moments are so microscopic such as the swearing on the podium and the astroturph in korea should be removed in my opinion.

Please include Massa on podium in Suzuka!

This is just my opinion, this is your video, do whatever you want. I'll still be looking forward to watch it.

I hope USA and Brazil will give us more moments to add to the list.

I hope more people other than OP will make a video based on the list.....

o_o forgot about that. It'll be cool if there is a short montage of the 7 wins as an intro.

Hamiltons meltdown aided by twitter.. You could even use a screengrab of the tweets with some music over the top like the old "our tune" music BBC radio one used to play

Zedd's Alonso VS Vettel/velied hamilton bash thread is hands down moment of season for me. There was no on track action that even came close to the excitement this thread still manages to generate for me

You've covered pretty much everything, looking forward to the finished video :) (hope you get nice climax in the coming two races)

I'd suggest addition of a few more things like:

- Raikkonen and Schumacher through Eau Rouge
- Contrasting Vettel on Alonso 2011 to Alonso on Vettel 2012 in Monza
- The podium in Valencia
- Radio messages from Raikkonen in Abu Dhabi
- A collection of lockups, I remember Sergio Perez locking up all 4 wheels in China, it was a real spectacle.
- Kamui on the podium and the crowd's reaction.
- Don't forget the double overtakes - Hulkenberg in Korea and Hamilton in Spain

PS: Also, If needed, I'll be happy to suggest a few tracks for the audio

Thanks for the suggestions thus far guys

By the way, for those who haven't seen it, ITV's 1997 season review is almost certainly the best I've ever seen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPbT_0fb7Wg
Quality's not the best but you get the idea :)

If I could give you one word of advise, it would be to avoid using a backing song on your video.

So many videos on youtube have been ruined by terrible songs playing over the top of great commentary and racing sounds.

Rosberg didn't force Hamilton or Alonso off the track. It would be nice if the clips you use show that, because a lot of fans still think he did.

First of all, I would like to know where you want to post this video, if it's YouTube that I can't really say that's possible because FOM will take down and give u a strike or worse ban you right away.

I think one of the best are:
Felipe Massa in Singapore
Alonso in India
8 different winners in one season
Vettel @ Abu Dhabi(I hate to admit it :P )
Vettel vs Button @ Hockenheim
Perez chasing Alonso @ Malaysia
Vettel didn't give room to Alonso @ Italy
Alonso Overtakes @ Valencia
Senna Overtakes @ India
Maldonado wins @ Spain
Kimi blue flags @ Australia
Hamilton @ Spain

Schumacher's prediction that he'd be starting 6th at Monaco, before his subsequent pole lap. Ross Brawn's reaction on team radio was a nice touch as well.

I remember in the young drivers test when Ricciardo was faster than Vettel in both the RB5 and RB6 and everyone screamed "its just track evolution he's not that fast" and now you see the things he can do in qualifying in that Torro Rosso you have to think he could be one of the one lap greats.

7 winners in 7 races sounds way more exciting than 8 winners in 18 races.

Schumacher taking a surprise win in his final race in Formula One, leaving the motor-sport world wondering what he could've done if he'd stayed on a year longer - especially when the 2013 Mercedes GP car is a title contender.

Or HRT hiring Newey before Brazil 2012 and HRT gets their first 1-2 finish... Cucumber wins the last race and in 2013 ope to repeat what vettel did in 2011....
