Similar to the other thread regarding your mirrors, but this time the opposite. You're the driver on the approach for an overtake, who do you really fear trying to put an overtake on successful or not?

I have 2

Hamilton - because he will try to reovertake me by the next corner and also seems to be top notch in defense

Schumacher - the schumacher chop is brutal!!!

so please submit your answers, and remember to have fun!!

I have to agree that Hamilton, he will not give up the place easily, and find out a way to use KERS in a smart mode, defending the pass, or attacking at the moment you pass him.

A clean drive for example. The battle between Alonso and Hamilton in Silverstone this year.

While hamilton is likely to re-overtake you, I would feel more comfortable trying to pass him than Mad Maldo. At least if Lewis overtakes again I am still in the race. Maldo I think would be most likely to end my race.

Massa. He may spin and crash to my car after a desperate defense. See Webber and Hamilton (last year) and their overtaking experiences with Massa.

I'd say Vettel, because he is quite the aggressive driver and doesn't give up positions easily (Unless of course DRS is involved)

Schumacher. What he did to Button on Sunday was brutal, fair but brutal.

Schumacher. Even near the very last race of his career, he's brutal, and will not surrender a millimeter.

Massa, he would rather crash than lose a place.

Shumacher
Maldonado and Perez honorable mentions

I think the most difficult to overtake is Schumacher - he's got the widest car on track, and if he's even slightly competitive, he WILL make you work for it.

However, the scariest for me would be one of the more inexperienced guys - people who're likely to cause an accident in trying to defend. Keeping that in mind, my answer has to be Maldonado.

hamilton. He rather lose time on defending for position than giving up and settle for better grid position finish.

And after the race he will overhype his slow defending driving as "i did my best".

Massa fore sure, especially if it is Hamilton trying to overtake. Conversely, the easiest guy to overtake if you are faster is Alonso. I think Alonso is by far the fairest guy when being overtaken. Maybe that is why he does not have many accidents.

Agreed. But he's earnt he reputation now and I'm pretty sure drivers are still wary of him.
If he has really turned around the over-recklessness while keeping the speed and the reputation then it should stand him in good stead. Making opponents think twice about taking a gap on reputation alone is a pretty handy weapon. I can think of a few other drivers who did alright using it :)

not in suzuka though.

the fairest guy is Kimi, you can enjoy wheel to wheel racing with this guy without worrying the risk of contact.

The toughest to overtake initially:
Schumacher, Webber, and Kimi (see USA GP, he placed the car pefectly in defense, but Button was able to use DRS to get next to Kimi. Even then, Kimi didn't give up).
But those 3 are also pretty fair, they won't crash into you.

I would be most afraid of Grosjean or Perez.
They don't give up, and not in a good way.

I wouldn't fear the drivers who are difficult to overtake or the ones who might get the position back, but the ones where an overtake might result in an accident due to the driver I'm approaching not paying attention or being overly aggressive/defensive.

For me that's Karthikeyan, Schumacher, Maldonado and Perez.

With the other drivers, even if they fight hard, they generally give room and don't make silly errors in the midst of the overtake.

Please leave maldonado alone....he was fair for several races upto date....he has become a completely fair n excellent driver
Schumacher is probably the most dangerous n difficult driver to overtake, not that it will end up in accidents but the overtaking driver must have steel balls like jenson at austin n kimi at spa
Hamilton is the next one that comes in mind

How many times has Schumi been overtaken this year in that dog of a Merc?

How many accidents have ensued?

It would be interesting if someone could actually check the statistics - overtakes and accidents resulting (with qualifiers as to whether it was the overtakers's fault or not!).

Obviously this is impossible, but it would be nice if we could at least supply examples of the reasons why we believe that x is the most likely to cause an accident when being overtaken!

Massa and Perez. They don't leave room and then blame the other guy when there's a crash.

Schumacher gets the honourable mention here. He'll take you within an inch of a huge crash but stop just before taking it too far.

Nah that thread would have to be called, who do you fear lining up against at the start of a race lol

Someone did mention Ayrton Senna, good choice he was very hard to pass and didn't mind the ocassional rough housing to get his point across - That you are not getting past.
