They are happy with Webber. They had the chance to sign Kimi instead of Webber twice, but never even entertained the idea so why now?

And if you refer to the Vettel departure, I'm sure they will go with one of the youngsters and keep Webber for one more year to insure a smoother transition ..

Something I wrote in the RoC thread:

Turun Sanomat asked why Kimi hasn't entered the RoC since it would be like tailor-made for him with all the different car types. Here's what Kimi had to say:

- I just don’t feel like going. They’ve asked me often. During my first years in F1 I really wanted to participate, but I never got permission while I drove for McLaren.
- If the race was similar to what it used to be in the Canary islands where they drove on sand and tarmac with rally cars and others, I would join immediately.
- Now when it’s in stadiums it’s a such a Mickey Mouse show that it’s nothing like it used to be. I’ve made a suggestion to the organizers that they would change it back to the old format and then I would be interested in participating.

Tires were Kimi's issue this year.

I don't have time to translate everything with my "sunday school Finnish" but below some outtakes. :smug:

http://www.mtv3.fi/urheilu/f1/uutiset.shtml/2012/12/1674468/kisainsinoori-kertoo-nama-olivat-raikkosen-paluukauden-haasteet

Mark Slade tells that Kimi had to take it easy and change his driving style to get Pirelli to work.
He also says that because he took that easy he got the third this year because he probably would have a crash at some point.

Couple of quotes:

"Kimi decided to have a careful approach this year and bring in the points which helped him to secure the 3rd."

"His driving style saves front tires which caused that in some places we did'nt get them in right operating temperature. Romain succeeded in this. There was 4 races where Romain had an advantage on one lap speed"

"Kimi did a lot of development work on fridays. This had also an effect how the rest of the weekend works. This did'nt always work the way we wanted when considering some of the qualifying performances. All and all he managed this very well.

There's a new translation from Nicole

Kimi Räikkönen's race engineer looked back at the highlight of the season - "It was horrifying"

Kimi Räikkönen and his race engineer Mark Slade looked back at the Iceman's comeback season in the latest F1Racing-magazine. Slade told that the victory in Abu Dhabi was extremely important for the team, because it took away the pressure of the so called 'breaking of copper'from them.

Then engineer praised the Finn widely saying that it proved how Räikkönen was his "old self" again... continue reading here http://www.racingnerds.com/?p=1194

New translation from Nicole

Mark Slade about Kimi Räikkönen’s close situation: “Please don’t crash into each other!”

Mark Slade looked back to the toughest situation during Kimi’s comeback season in the latest F1Racing-magazine.
Slade got cold chills in Hungary GP where Räikkönen slapped his teammate Romain Grosjean in a brilliant manner. Kimi came from the pit lane to the track right beside Grosjean and as a professional he kept his own driving line. Romain had to give way in the situation because otherwise they would have crashed – Grosjean’s driving went badly wide...http://www.racingnerds.com/?p=1197

Sorry I can't seem to find the E-20 thread so I'll post the pics here as it is also related to Kimi... Hope that's ok!

It's funny how after that Abu Dhabi win I didn't concentrate too much on Kimi's last races. Maybe I was thinking that the season for him was already crowned by that win and since he was out of WDC contention there was not much to be done anymore. I just wanted Vettel to win the WDC and the season would be a good wrap. And so it was. :-P

According to Ilta-Sanomat Kimi got 1 million dollar bonus for win and 50 000dollars/point. So about 7.8 million euros bonus for this season.

Just wondering..as Kimi said there was nothing to negotiate as he had a deal for 2013 already..if he has the bonus system for 2013 also, his salary would not be bad at all if he keeps on going like this also next year.

Usman..I have only one beanie from Kimis rally time..its Red Bull Kimi beanie :-P
