I do like the color scheme...front wing colors are purdy.

What is Burn then? Some energy drink?

Wasn't CNBC with Caterham last year?

Also, if Honeywell were joining the team, wouldn't you want to debut it at this event?

I wish Lopez would show up more, I can't stand Boullier.

I didn't actually mind the amount (and perhaps, more, the location) of red they had on the livery last year. Maybe I'll get used to it, but my initial impression is more obvious red really does spoil the livery.

Romain has a sponsorship deal with Total, so that'll be why. Same as last year, I believe.

Not the nicest F1 car, but I hope it wins at least few races :)

I quite like the colours on it. I know it doesn't stay much true to the old JPS livery, but it's still nice for me

I thought it was team sponsor and not his personal sponsor. They've had Total for years.

The red was initially intended as just an 'accent' colour. Gone a tad far with that eh! Not too keen on it to be honest.

I like the addition of the red - it makes the red Total logos of years past look far less out of place. Don't mind the stepped nose too much as it's probably the most elegant solution to that silly rule.

As Chandler Bing would say: Could that livery BE more hideous?

This is how the black & gold is done:

According to many tweets Honeywell deal isnt so certain we assume..but they are still negotiating. So it could be or then not.
Total is Grosjeans personal sponsor. It might explain why Kimi hasnt it in his suit.

I loved the gold black coloring from last year. This has certainly gone backwards.

Wasn't the stepped nose supposed to be gone? Or is that something we will see replaced with a new one before first race?

Not too bad, an evolution of the E20 obviously. Suprised a little by the step nose though.

I love the idea of McLaren "surprise" launching a stepped-nose car and Button and Perez screaming as they take the drapes off. Haha.

Agreed! Really liked the retro look from last year. Looked very different. With the extra touches of red, it given the livery a bit of a modern and normal theme.

Ah well. As long as it performs well it wont bother me ;)

But they already had Total in 2009 before Grosjean was brought in and again in 2010-2011 after he had lost the seat.

#F1 We shouldn't get too excited as the team has a habit of using show cars for launches so perhaps we haven't quite seen a 2013 car yet

Suddenly it's clear, Lotus will dominate the season. The rest of the teams might as well not bother turning up to the first test session.

Wasnt Totals sponsorship going to end at the end of 2012? Heard Total will offer 5 millions more if Romain is Lotuses driver at 2013. Total isnt their main sponsor any more I believe..

to be fair, this could just be the promo of launching the car first. the car that turns up at Oz could be closer to a dacia sandero than what was under that cover.

The team is known to be innovative and judging from what James Allison said, I'm sure theyve got some clever ideas for :)

I think all launches will be drab this year, but next year will have some crazy designs

This. Not just for Lotus (who apparently has such a reputation) but every launch should be taken with a pinch of salt anyway.

I like black, gold, and red together, especially on the front wing.

I dont assume the "Kimi" will be replaced with Honeywell, because Kimi is their biggest attraction

I'm expecting Mercedes to at least have something new, as the car was supposedly deemed as fundamentally flawed quite early on. Also the new Ferrari could be a bit more streamlined and then there's Newey who should never be underestimated.

Glad it's not just me. Personally I think it looks better with the red on there

As for the car itself, I don't normally pay too much attention to the official launches. The car they display rarely shows much resemblance to the one that starts the season.

It definitely strikes me that the livery is designed for the possible addition of Honeywell as a sponsor either on the cowl (if the price is lower) or on the side pods (if Honeywell signs up for a larger deal).

James Allison pretty much confirmed what I suspected about the 'cosmetic' covering, that its an option that teams will have.... but I think few will use, unless it improves the performance of the car, which its specifically not supposed to do, so more noses that looked like they were run over by an 18-wheeler.

Fortunately for the Lotus its livery made it less noticable than the cars with the lighter paint colors where it stuck out.... well, like an ugly nose.

After McLaren was so strong at the start last year, I had hoped more teams would emulate McLaren's nose from the start of the season instead of McLaren being the one to evolve. I guess now its down to hoping the 2014 regulations will bring an end to the duck bills.

I want to see a full head on shot of the car... I think that red and gold could look quite stunning driving down a straight towards a camera :)
