Personally I think the purple and the huge Infiniti logo make the car look hideous.

But ho-hum, I just hope it handles as bad as it looks ;)

The RB9 livery reminds me of an old Nokia I used to own that shifted in color depending on the angle. The Nokia 6110 chameleon.

Blimy they are tiny. May as well not have bothered.

Guessing Autosport got the exclusive on photos, and Sky got the exclusive on the video (showing it tomorrow on their F1 channel).

Clearly money being more important than fans to Red Bull.

So both Mercedes and Red Bull have managed to "launch"/reveal" their cars without anyone being able to take any decent photos of them.

Modern F1 does suck sometimes, a bit like the purple patch livery. The more I see it the more I dislike it despite my initial favourable impression.

Someone on Twitter has mocked up what a McLaren MP4-4 would look like with a more consistent purple RB livery and it looks awesome IMO. Red Bull should have done it...

See now that one looks pretty nice. I dont think it helps that instead of removing the blue, they tried having both. It's just too much on 1 car IMO.

Ditch the blue, rethink the red/white/blue stripes and maybe it'd look a little nicer. It's not even the same purple that Infiniti use - it seems much darker (although this could be down to the crap lighting).

No, those are tiny because of an Autosport policy that only subscribers can access to large pictures.

The Merc is launched tomorrow. Aside from their website going down, I can find any part of Merc's pre-launch activity that has not met my expectations, based on how they described it at yesterday lunchtime.

It's nothing to do with 'exclusive'. It's about who and what you know. Click on the links for the uncompressed images. I'll warn you now that they're very big!

There are full, plenty big pics of the RB9 launch @ motorsport.com if anyone is still looking.

Looks like some sort of cooling vent.
It is in such a position that airflow there will be compromised, so they surely wont be using that for DDRS. So that leaves some sort of cooling vent. Very clever positioning though, Lot less drag there than adding second inlet behind the primary like others have done.

I think it's an improvement lookswise with the livery and it's nice to see them changed it after using the same for so long.
Purple is not really my color but it fits here.

I'm worried about what it's capable of, it looks fast! As with all Newey cars I think they have probably built another winner. And I fear it might be another winner 2011-style more than 2012-style.
Please let me be wrong..!

It's still a blue base coat but they've splashed bits of purple on top. Be thankful you are colourblind! :P

obviously I'm no expect in airflow and the likes, but if that backwards slot goes right through the nose would fast airflow passing over it suck air through from underneath and increase the downforce above? Pushing the nose a little bit harder on the front suspension?

But it would have already in the exact direction an airflow coming from the normal direction movement, so crashing 2 currents with different speeds might instead create more like a turbulence than down-force? oh well, this is why I'm a noob and Newey is a genius, probably he can see things I don't understand.
Anyways, rather disappointed - IF this will really be the car they'll race. Aside the livery, which is of course debatable on emotional level from one person to another, I don't see much evolution of the older car...and, just like in the Lotus case, I'm wondering whether they won't hit a development ceiling somewhere at the middle of the year.
Then again, it could be Ferrari and Macca the ones who tried to chew too much, and RB9 might stroll nicely to victories...hopefully not, but I'll wait for Jerez to actually see what everybody can do.

Rick, could you do a midnight blue version (almost black but not quite), an orange version, a light red version and a yellow version?

Quality is a little off on these - its pretty hard to lighten the shades up without it starting to mess the quality of the sponsors up - the infiniti logo is a bit screwed on these ones already.

The colours arent as good as I'd like to get them but cant seem to get the correct shades. I think the metallic paintwork isn't helping.

"Diet Bull"
Image

"Midnight Blue" (couldn't get it any closer I'm afraid)
Image

"Orange"

"Red"

"Yellow...ish"

clearly this is for cooling the driver in heated up situations - mostly when being turned around during first lap incidents :D

I have to say, launch season doesn't excite me now in the way it used to. None of the teams really shows anything radical, and it's all fairly meaningless until the cars start testing. Pre-internet, it was far more exiting, having to wait until Autosport was out on Thursday to see the new cars as they were revealed, not being able to follow testing progress live (though testing back then ran from as long as it took the cars to get back from Adelaide to Europe, through to the last pre-season test in Rio in the week before the GP). It all built the sense of anticipation of the new season so much more! One thing is still like the good old days though - only having highlights of the first few races on the BBC...

As for the RB, it must be the launch I was least bothered about, partly because they - more than any of the other top teams - hardly show their hands at the launch. Can't say I feel any real passion for RBR and I'm not sure if I'd really miss them if they left F1 in the way that I'd miss Ferrari, McLaren, Williams, Lotus (Benetton!) or perhaps even Sauber or Force India (Jordan). That said, I do have a huge amount of respect for what Christian Horner and Adrian Newey have achieved between them in a very short space of time, and make no mistake, RBR's success is down to the pair of them and the design/engineering/race team they have put together, not any of the other hangers-on associated with the team who like to think they are the best things since the bread knife was invented.

Probably get a better idea of how this one will look when it's testing, I think it's too dark at the launch to get a good idea of how the purple will look with the blue. Doesn't matter what colour it is though, it'll still go like stink.
