hard luck to hartley.

Great race. I went out there yesterday but the poor organisation and $80 for a camp site drove me home. It was great to see the GT cars through their qualifying and check out different parts of the track. The main reason I went out was to test my new Lenses before my Europe trip and I got some cracking photos.
Next year I'll head out again but I really hope they sort out the organisational woes. I took the advertised shuttle bus up the mountain (turns out we could've driven), and ended up waiting for close to an hour at the top in 38c heat for the shuttle back down after the 2nd 12hr qualification as the shuttle ran low on petrol and had to go to town to refill (maybe 5 minutes away...) The race is great and having cars and drivers of that quality out here was fantastic but it could seriously do with some local promotion and infrastructure, getting 20,000 people over three days isn't doing the quality of the racing justice.

Anyway thats enough of a whinge, here's a couple of test photos from yesterday

Hi Swarth, I wouldn't know where to start filling you in on the last 2 hours, they were so hectic! Do yourself a favour and and watch it once they post up the replay (should be soon if not already). It was some great racing and some real edge of the seat moments once the rain was coming down.

Thanks for the comment on the photos, I'm slowly uploading better quality copies to http://eddiefowkephotography.smugmug.co ... Motorsport quite a happy lense test, some good results :)

I just tried to accurately recap the last 2 hours for someone else, and suffice it so say you just need to watch it.

I agree, the last 4 hours were absolutely riveting, and so much happened I'm still trying to digest it all.

thank you i will watch it instead, i cant wait for the highlights to come out pity that isnt for a while(SBS in australia is showing a highlights show in a couple of weeks i think) but it sounds like it ended the way a race at the mountain should end i have a circuit crush on mount panorama :d

also thanks for the link that black and yellow merc looks stunning

for anyone who knows i am curious how a team would set up a car for bathurst? it seems like it would be a difficult circuit to set up a car for but i really have no clue about those things
