I was at Brands for his first race there and his garage was crowded. I spoke to the driver in the garage next to him and asked his thoughts. He was of the opinion that first year was going to be tough due to the media attention which being a hamilton is bringing making it harder for him. But he also said he appreciated it as it was putting focus onto their series 'ClioCup' which can only help.

Wow. Thanks for posting this. I found it on YouTube. Really inspiring story. I knew of Nic before but I had no idea he had Cerebral Palsy, nor did I know he was only 19. Really really great video.

Watching this as I type and I have to say just in the first 15 minutes this kid, his perseverance and his approach to life is so in line with my personal experiences. Having been born normal, at 12 I was in a Marine Cadet core in N.Y.C. and during what's called hardness week, I was easily excelling past everyone in every task/event until we ran around the New York Reservoir and suddenly after I completed the first lap I felt a sharp little pain in my left hip. This went on for a couple of days until we drove to Sears and was trying to get out of the van and my hip was jammed.

Long story short my mom took me to the hospital that Monday morning where the doctors said I had a natural growth disorder where my bones had the capacity to grow a little too fast and I needed surgery right away. Thanks to taking such quick action my left hip was and still is fine. A year later it happened on my right hip when we moved to Florida and due to government policies my mom no longer had medical insurance and hospitals were not obligated to help us and they simply refused to help because of the exorbitant costs of the surgery, so we were forced to wait... For 2 years.

When my mom finally got insurance it was too late and I was the worst case seen in the U.S. in more than 13 years and we went to a state hospital that performed an experimental procedure (without our consent) that left me worse, FAR Worse! Being a state hospital, you have to sign a waiver stating you cannot sue for malpractice and so, there went that as well. What we were able to do is threaten to go public and ruin their reputation and eventually their attorneys got with our attorney and they agreed to find us the best orthopedic surgeon available which was regarded as the best in the world at the time. He took a look at my case and he was blown away at how much damage they caused and proceeded to lay out a plan of attack. Over the next 2 years I underwent several procedures to repair as much of the damage as was possible and since I was so young (15), I opted to go with what offered me the most mobility but it was also the more painful and most difficult route. After 3 years without walking, it was done and after 6 months of physical therapy I was walking on my own once more, albeit it with pain and a limp. Sadly, the 3 months at a time I spent confined to a bed after each surgery changed my metabolism and I went from being an extremely skinny kid to putting on weight rather easily so since then I've had to watch my weight and go against protocol and exercise hard which is painful. Oddly, whilst partaking in activities like racquetball (doubles as I cannot cover ground quickly enough in singles) and semi pro paintball, I do feel pain and discomfort but the pain and discomfort really set in afterwards, once I take weight off it and then stand back up. Then it's an excruciating pain the likes of which I hope none of you ever have to experience. Picture the crippling pain you feel when you hit the funny bone on your elbow, and then imagine having that pain radiate constantly from your hip down to your femur, most of the time throbbing all the way down to your knee. That's been my reality for the last 25 years (wow that's a long time) and I never once felt sorry for myself and never expected anything from anyone simply because of my physical impediment. That's why this story in particular is so compelling to me. His condition is not comfortable and he lives with pain and simply chooses to push past it all and LIVE life as best he can, never once feeling pity for himself. I'm sure like me he has days where he wonders why him or fantasizes what might have been, but he doesn't sit there and dwell on it. He just gets on with life as I have always done.

Sorry for the semi rant but this story is really hit home for me. And my older brother who is an amazing athlete never let me win at anything either regardless of my issue though I have whooped his donkey in both paintball and racquetball! What a SORE LOSER!!! LOL

I wish Nick the best and will follow his efforts from this point on.

 to the BBC for another quality program.

Had to laugh.

SkySportsF1 launched at 8pm. Jake, DC and DiResta are on the 1 show at 8. Seems a little convenient. Did the BBC intentionally not want people to watch their own channel or something? :s We all know how much of an donkey Jake has been about the Sky thing so it wouldn't surprise me if he requested 8pm.

You can already tell that it's light years ahead of what we had previously. Let's just hope they can keep it up.

This is very unusual, the way they introduced the presenting team at the beginning of the show was very Sky.

Yeah! I mean, I cant see it being used much during the season...maybe every 2-3 races when we see upgrades, but not on a regular basis.

I kinda expected it, it is their first day after all, and they want to let you know who's on their team :)

I wasn't refering specifically to the 3d models. More, that I hope they can keep up the levels of presentation all round. It's gotten off to a good start.

Sky are going to do a cracking job this year, so far so good. this show aint even on a GP weekend, got a feeling the proper show is going to be real top notch. This channel is going to be on all the time in this house hold.

I expected them introducing the team too, I just thought it was funny how they were all standing like a boy bands album cover.

My lip sync was fine on the standard def virgin media.

Honestly the bit with Ted and Martin now was so scripted it was cringeworthy. Ted tried to make a joke and Martin just shrugged it off to get back to his script. He seems a bit uptight all round to be honest, he seemed much more relaxed on the bbc with his mate DC. Damon and Davidson are being criminally underused too.
