I know Ron Dennis thinks he's portraying how desirable McLaren was to the mighty Schumacher, but it's actually telling how stupid Ron Dennis was for letting personal sponsorship rights being the stumbling block in signing Schumacher. It confounds me how even great team leaders can make such stupid decisions.
Fast forward to 2012, and one of the reasons Hamilton left was also due to personal sponsorship rights. Even people like Ron Dennis really need to learn a lot.

Don't think that was any secret. James Allen mentioned it in his book about Schumacher. Williams also wanted him but weren't prepared to pay his wages.

I don't think Schumi would have just handed his trophies to Ron...

Only Schumi could say whether this is true or not, but if James Allen says it was a rumour - I'll take it more seriously than most rumours.

I had heard the rumors as well. I believe it would of been a hakkinen and schumi partnership at McLaren in 1998.

I remember him and Ron saying so in 2005 when this piece of news surfaced again back then.
