The long noses are driver protection driven...

I just watched the Ferrari launch teaser. It has a funky winglet across the shark fin. Other than that the most amusing thing about the teaser was that Kimi and Seb couldn't keep a straight face or not fidget for 1 minute.

lol

What is with these "T wings" that have suddenly appeared on the Mercedes yesterday afternoon and now with the Ferrari? Surely we wont be going back to the time when we had those X shaped wings like the Tyrrell did back in the day.

I am - so far - pretty disappointed at how boring and "same, same" the liveries have been. The Cars are radically different, but from a distance...yawn...same as last year.

I hope McLaren is really going to be as different as I have been hearing.

Am I alone in this?

I've got a feeling that McLaren will surely please us with a good livery.

Hoping they've got a car that lets Alonso win.

I am with you on both those points. Once the season starts, performance is all that counts, but now, sitting around waiting...I care about the liveries.

Really hoping the remaining teams have some courage with their liveries.

I'm real excited to see McLaren & Toro Rosso liveries.

So the only decent looking car so far is the Merc. Big hopes for Red Bull, McLaren and Haas.

Haas is rightfully profiling his company colours...as he should. He is self sponsored pretty much. The funny thing for my is Haas colours are the colours of my municipal government. So every time I see a garbage truck or snowplow, I have to giggle a little...but then I am a man-child.

Interesting that of the cars we've seen so far, whatever nose the teams had last season, they've more or less kept it the same. Force India is the closest to doing something different to '16 but they've kept the same concept and refined it. All the other nose tips look a very similar shape to their predecessors.

Based on this picture, they have a shark fin.

I read an article on Force India's nose where they are almost apologetic about the "Big Step". They are "Taking advantage in a loophole in the suspension rules" that results "unfortunately" in the big hump.

They are a team that seems to do the most with not much, so I will defer to them that they know what they are doing.

So much for all the pre-season talk about getting rid of the ugly noses of the recent past. So far the majority of the cars just look like a relatively small evolution on last year (nose-wise, that is).

So Alonso was indeed approached by Mercedes after Rosberg retired but he didn't contemplate a move as he wanted to see out the contract with McLaren & was happy being there:

To be fair he said it was fairly superficial and Mercedes were just "doing the rounds." I don't think much may be read into that

Thanks.

The JCB branding got me fooled.

Any idea of length of the respective cars wheelbases so far?. Mercedes looks the longest to my eye but these things are hard to judge.

Yeah, I preferred last years livery to be honest. Disappointing but the car looks tidy enough but a bit meh. Nice Ferrari-ish side pods.

I was hoping Haas would have a decent livery this year, that grey is not appealing at all!

Red Bull & Toro Rosso will carry the usual livery too. Fairly dissapointing year once again on the livery front.

Haas has a color scheme of a railway wagon. This much they care for livery and aesthetics.

I like it. Not the best, but still better than FI, Renault and Ferrari.

They are expected & probably will go for a newer shade of Blue.

Putting the ugly livery aside, has anybody else noticed the shark fin seems to be unusually shaped at the rear? Or is that just me?
