One thing Ross was right about....when he said when Michael gets a competitive car, he will show what he can do.

Michael seems very happy with progerss :]

Interview after QF's

Quote:
Mercedes
Michael Schumacher (4th, Q3 - 1m 25.226s)

"The first qualifying session of the year proved to be as tight a competition as we had all hoped for. I am certainly happy with our performance which is a huge step forward, considering where we were in qualifying here last year. I can only thank the guys for all of the hard work that they have achieved over the winter. I also think it is important to stress that Mercedes-Benz have always believed in and supported this project, and I really hope we can deliver the results we all want. We have to take this step-by-step as the competition is very tight, so now we have to continue to work hard."

I suspect that although the f-duct makes the car faster, it also makes it harder to drive.
Good job by Schumi, who seems to have it dialled a bit better than Nico at the moment.

Driving the second best or equal best car, he should have been on the front row or third at least...big mistake on the last corner in quali...poor Schumi

Can't wait to see if Schumi can best Grosjean at the start. If he does I'll be curious to see if he can pressure Button at all.

Wonderful for the season to be underway! So many surprises already and I'm a bit shocked to see Red Bull as far back as they are.

Definitely podium. Lotus is no problem. May be in the start he can get him. But RBR can be good tomorrow and Mclaren drivers. Let us see what happens :)

I think they didn't run the F-DUCT system yet. That's what's circulating around. I don't know for sure, but I think it's a bit too early to get excited. Reds are sneaky and very foxy. So, I think, 4th-5th for Schummi would be a realistic.

Don't forget E20! - Very reliable car.

I hope I'm wrong though! :D

Really hope Michael mixes it up with the front row tomorrow and I reckon he'll get the jump on Grosjean towards first corner.

Is that a mistake from Schumacher? Or was it the car's fault?

Seems like this year it's more qualifying pace than race pace that Merc are good at. Meh

I think schumacher really pushed the car to qualify 4th. He was very ragged and right on the edge. He obviously cant maintain that sort of pace over a race distance as the tyres wont last long.

Schumacher was defending his 3rd position quite well from Vettel...until problem..

While Rosberg had a good start...went on 4th place..and since then is loosing positions...

No, I really think Vettel would have gotten past Michael in the next few laps even if he dint have his problem.

The Red Bull does look pretty fast in race trim, matching McLaren's pace.

Schumi had better race pace than Rosberg which is encouraging. Rosberg im afraid doesnt seem to be doing too well, repeat of last season at the mo... Im sure it'll be better for Merc at Malaysia.

Yeah it was a shame he had to had that gearbox problem, he could have easily finished 4th or 5th without it. And Nico also had a puncture on the last lap, bad day for Mercedes. Hopefully both drivers gets nice points in Malaysia.

Really disappointing day for us Schumi's fan, especially seeing how he was able to defend well from Vettel's charge.

Hopefully come Malaysia we will have a stronger race pace and Schumi will get his ever so close podium finish again!

Just saw Schumacher interview on German tv.

I like it...

He has changed...not smiling at every fairy cakes someone says.

He was very serious and body language was same as it was when he left F1 in 2006...

Snake-bitten Schumacher - these retirements have to stop!

Schumacher retires more in one season than Alonso does in five.

What a dissapointing race for Mercedes!! with all the talk about improvements etc, but they still got the same result as 2011, no points whatsoever on the first race! and the W03 seems to be a dog on tires. What good is the S-Duct/Drs combo if Schumi/Rosberg are always more than 1 second behind the other car which prohibits them from using it in the first place?? Im predicting a repeat of the 2011 season sadly...

Havent seen that but if so, good spot.
I was thinking the same about schumi since his return.

way too smily and friendly. Likle hed lost the killer instinct.
if its back it couldnt have come sooner 8)

All the luck Schumi had in his hey days seems to have gone now. Kimi comes back to F1 and finds himself in a good car just behind Mclaren he will go on to outshine Michael pretty soon in his comeback while Schumi has been left fight with a miserable car that just doesnt seem to improve at all.

Michael and the Merc were looking pretty good, good enough for him to get a good start for the season.
Shame the gearbox didn't like to be trolled though the gravel, It's not a plow Mikey!
See ya in Malasia.

He ploughed it real bad I should say, could have easily been the cause. But I do not think he would have nursed the car any better than Rosberg did even if he had stayed in the race. The car was just one piece of crap which has speed but absolutely nothing else in it.

watching schumi during quali was surreal... cannot wait for Malaysia where hopefully the car the man and the moment all come together and give us "the jump" on the podium !
