Vettel was superb today. The pressure he put on Hamilton through the first stint forced Mercedes into an early tyre change and won him the race. A well earned victory.

I went with Seb and Ocon and was struggling with a third and picked Max and then regretted it when I saw others mention Giovinazzi.

Max did well but Gio's performance on short notice was commendable.

Ditto

Gotta say the battle between Alonso and Ocon was fascinating from trackside. A young driver in a faster car on a circuit difficult for overtaking. I wish it had lasted longer.

Vet and Max.

Vettel made the difference today.
I don't see much difference between Merc and Ferraris pace, but Vettel simply is more consistent than Ham.
Hamilton is so tyres/setup dependent... Although I support him mainly.
In his early days wasn't like that.

Black Flag 11 are you doing your Officially Unofficial Driver of the Weekend poll again this year, it was good last year because it's a single vote and includes Qualifying so it's interesting to see?.

1- Vettel did a superb drive
2- Perez pulled a couple of very nice overtakes on the toro rossos and held them behind until the end
3- Grosjean (even tough he did not finish) or Occon, very mature drive

I'll go with Seb. Put pressure on Hamilton for the entire first stint, which doubtless contributed to Hamilton stopping when he did. Made the difference to convert 2nd to a win.

Honourable mention to Alonso. Fought really well to be in the points until right before the end

Vettel, goes without saying.
Verstappen, for being quietly impressive by not finishing far off the Ferrari when he had no business doing so.
Picked Alonso for my third, because of the car being a dog and fighting for the points.

Not a big fan of all Seb's complaining last year, but he was definitely the man in Melbourne today.

How does anyone know? Max himself said he was able to keep up with the Ferrari fairly easily, and felt that RBR aren't actually that far away. We'll need to wait a few races to really have any idea where they are in race pace, although I agree their qualifying pace doesn't seem to be quite there as of yet.

I'm going with Vettel, Bottas, and Alonso. Good win by Vettel, Bottas came close to catching Hamilton before appearing to back off towards the end (which, at least for me, exceeded expectations), and Alonso was running much higher than expected with the McLaren before he was out of the race.

I voted for Vettel.
However lets not get too carried away.
Had Ham not been held up by Max for those 3 or so laps, Vettel would have come out behind him and would have had to overtake Ham on track.

The Ferrari looks kinder on tyres and can possibly follow with less tyre degradation than the Mercs.

Yeah but in that case nobody knows anything - how do we know the McLaren wasn't just as good as where Alonso put it (up until it went bust, of course), how do we know the Ferrari wasn't actually highly dominant but the drivers made a meal of it in qualifying, ... :)

I chose Ocon over Perez as it was his first race in a new team & he put off a great overtaking maneuver on Alonso to bag 1 point.

Perez deserves a lot of credit as well as this was his 13th consecutive points finish. He's matured into a strong driver now.
