Am expecting a great race tomorrow as Spa never disappoints.

Vettel in a good spot if he can get off the line well. Second out of T1 is a good place to be here with the long run down to Les Combes.

Especially if you can follow through Eau rouge onto the kemmel straight.

The last time Vettel started behind Lewis at Spa, he passed him on lap 1 at the kemmel straight after Lewis blew Eau Rouge.
This may happen again, Lewis shall be wary of it.

It wasn't a great qualifying session for him, but I'm calling this race for Valtteri.

My podium prediction:
1st Val
2nd Seb
3rd Kimi

I've had a little bet on this at huge odds.

I don't think the Ferrari can live with the Mercedes on this circuit in a straight fight. But I'm expecting problems for Hamilton in a race he's expected to dominate and win easily, and so we'll see the others will capitalise.

Of course it's not impossible Hamilton just cruises to victory leading from start to finish. :) But I hope we get some drama and action this weekend now we're back.

Now that pole is sorted, I'm hoping for a Hamilton win and WDC-lead after tomorrow!

I think Hamilton have to be careful at the Kemmel straight, especially at the first lap. Vettel can get a nice tow and breeze past him, as a Hamilton fan I hope he doesn't.

All the talk on commentary this weekend has been Ferrari are pretty good (if not slightly better than Merc) in race trim. Anybody got the numbers from practice (long stints) to support or debunk that assertion?

Even one-lap pace isn't too bad, most people expected Ferrari to be much further back than 2 tenths. Couple that with Ferrari being able to race in dirty air, it could be interesting tomorrow if Vettel can stick close to Hamilton for a few laps at the start.

Indeed. I'm expecting some shades of 2013 here, and I think if Seb can make the move, the Ferrari has the race pace to win. If not, we should be in for some exciting action at the front.

The upgraded Honda engine is also not looking too dire, so I'm hoping Alonso can sneak it into the points.

I hope that it's a dry race (I would never say that a few years ago 8O ) and that Hamilton and Vettel are 1-2 after the first couple of laps, in any order. That should make for a classic shootout.

There are all the laptimes from P2, the long runs are at the end. Hamilton & Bottas had best times during their long ultrasoft runs of 50.4 and 50.3 respectively. Kimi did a 50.3 on softs and Vettel did 2 49.6 laps on ultrasofts.

Ferrari seemed too far ahead for it to be legit, but even taking into account some Mercedes sandbagging they were definitely very strong.

After the Kemmel Straight whichever driver would be 2nd, would initially lose out because these cars don't like following another car. Even though Ferrari is a little more tolerant, in the long run it would hamper the race objective.

The driver in 2nd place will have to rely on undercut, if not weather. However, after long we're seeing Vettel & Hamilton starting side by side on the front row & what better place than Spa.

I'd hope even Hamilton fans would want to see an exciting race. An exciting race will only come if Vettel gets ahead at the start and has to try and fend off the Mercedes with its pace advantage on a track that suits the car.

I know this the the F1 race thread but I have to say after just watching the F2 race that Davide Valsecchi is easily the most annoying motor racing commentator i've ever heard , including Jonathon Legard & I never thought i'd find myself saying that.

I don't normally mind him tbh, he's eccentric but at least he is an ex-driver so he does bring a bit of knowledge to it.

I can't watch F2 this year though. There's always a .5 second delay in the commentary and it drives me mental. I've got them recorded so I may watch them back muted later.

This was the prediction for today - no rain but I'm sure all teams won't be buying this completely. The rain in FP2 was a surprise as it was predicted there won't be rain during FP2.

Palmer will start 15th after getting a penalty for changing the gearbox:

He surely has some big bad luck.

I hope Palmer's F1 career will out live his horrible luck. It MUST be his turn for some decent luck to come his way soon.

Interesting that Will Buxton pointed out that "Alonso" was literally too fast for his McClaren, causing his "no power" comments yesterday - seems he took Pouhon flat out and the Honda computer did not realize it had even gone through Pouhon.........

Genius by Alonso tucking out of the slipstream so he doesn't catch up to the Hulk too quickly on the straight

Bloody hell.... How that wasn't a massive incident into Eau Rouge on the first lap?

Is Alonso's engine already broken?

Both Force India's running is a miracle. They're making it a habit to touch each other atleast once during every race.

What a difference between the F1 start and the F2 youngsters free-for-all chaos start.........., (I'm thinkin the F2 guys, while slower are definitely more entertaining that what we are currently watchin)
