There were 2 occasions where Josef Newgarden was on the brink to take a win at Mid-Ohio, but on both of them they were snatched in pitlane. This time: There was no trouble at all. Newgarden overtook polesitter Will Power on lap 14 and surviving a caution period enroute to win the Honda Indy 200 for his 3rd win this season. With his win, Newgarden has taken the series points lead over Castroneves and Dixon. Power's day was very frustrating on the re-start when he had Esteban Gutierrez right in front of him that would cost him a chance to battle with his teammate, settling for 2nd. 2015 event winner Graham Rahal rounded out the final podium spot in front of his home crowd. Simon Pagenaud and Takuma Sato rounded out the Top 5 followed by Alexander Rossi, Helio Castroneves, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Scott Dixon (who had a huge problem with a rear-tire change during pit sequence), and Conor Daly to complete the top 10.

With the series going on break, Newgarden seizes control of the series points lead over Castroneves by 7 points, Dixon drops to 3rd followed by Pagenaud and Power. Rahal, Sato and Rossi remain in their perspective positions, Kannan remains in 9th. James Hinchcliffe moves 1 position to 10th.

The next event will be at the Triangle at Pocono. ... race-final ... Scores.pdf

Newgarden seemed to have a different spec car that day. Once he got past Power he was gone and was able to pull a gap after the re-start as well.

I was hoping for Rossi to get a little higher up the order than he did but still a good race for him. I hope he can find a good landing place if he gets dropped by Andretti should the team switch to Chevy power next year.
