Didn't he have a nervous breakdown or something and become a DJ. Sorry but I never rated him unlike buemi who I thought would shine in a faster car.

From the looks of the reports at the time, it seemed far more serious than a nervous breakdown. More along the lines of a life threatening condition that was discovered.
I thought it might have been cancer but not sure since his presence in the public eye faded rather quickly and no follow ups were ever released, that I know of at least.

As for becoming a full-time DJ, apparently it was something he was very serious about his entire life and was very passionate about and it seems his exposure through F1 led to bigger opportunities in DJing and he chose to pursue it.

It's looking that way.

He is one of those people I wonder why were not taken up as a driver. There must be a reason for it I assume.
Can not say he is/was a favourite of mine, but there were/are less deserving drivers getting jobs

He just didn't progress in single seaters. I don't think he finished in the top 10 in any series that would naturally lead into F1.

His junior career started well but petered out.

2007 - 1st in FRenault 2.0
2008 - 3rd in British F3
2009 - 11th F3 Euro Series
2010 - 10th in FRenault 3.5
2011 - 7th in FRenault 3.5

And then Red Bull dropped him.

Makes you wonder why they think he is up to it now, doesn't it?
Edit, I wonder if Webber is pushing him?

He's been a very good sportscar driver. They obviously think he's worth a look.

Funny how everyone was all "put Hulkenberg in a better car, he won Le Mans!" and now it's "Why let this guy do a single race?" with regard to another Le Mans (and WEC) winner.

Maybe the fact that he raced the same car as Mark for 3 years plays a part as well, Webbo's still buddies with some of the RB high-ups, no?

I think people are wondering about him as a choice not because they don't think he's good enough, but more because he obviously isn't going to have an F1 career. However, I'm not sure RBR had anyone available who's actually a prospect for the 2018 seat and has the requisite superlicense, so they didn't have much choice. Their other option, Buemi, is also not a candidate for the seat next year.

Is Sainz going to be the 2nd driver ever from the Red Bull driver program that will drive for another team?
(Behind Vettel obviously)
And surely Ricciardo and Max will go onto other teams too.

If Hartley does a decent job then it may be Gasly/Hartley for the rest of the year!

Wasn't Liuzzi in their programme before ending up at Force India.

And Klien

And of course Ricciardo and Doornbos drove elsewhere before STR

And to think we used to call Rosberg 'Britney'.

Gasly must be kicking himself. After skipping Austin to race in the Super Formula finale both races have been cancelled due to poor weather.

Can you imagine if that happened in F1?
