No details of who his team mates will be yet but it's confirmed that Fernando will drive in the LMP2 class for Zak Browns United Autosport team.

Paul Di Resta will be one of them, according to the United Autosports homepage.

Paul Di Resta will be one of them, according to the United Autosports homepage.

The linked article says that the team's running two cars and doesn't say which drivers are paired together.

What about JB as a partner?. There's a small risk he might pee in his seat but it would be a great pair to watch.

Alonso will share his car with two very young drivers, Lando Norris (17),and Phil Hanson (18). McLaren have also stated that they will not stand in the way if Toyota offer Alonso a seat for the 2018 Le Mans. Alonso's first test session will be conducted the week before the Abu Dhabi GP.

Button has turned down a seat in United Autosports, and Di Resta will be paired with Will Owen. Third driver not named yet for that car.

But be under no misunderstanding, this is something Alonso wants to do because LeMans is definitely his goal, and the Rolex is the kind of preparation he did not enjoy at Indy.

That's an interesting team to have in the car. I'm sure Alonso will catch on to the high banks pretty quickly, I wonder how the youngsters will adapt.

Phil Hansen ran LeMans last year in LMP2. So he is the most experienced in endurance. I am very familiar with Lando Norris, he's very good, and a quick learner.

I am very familiar with the Daytona road course. The good news is that the entire track was completely leveled and resurfaced in 2010, so it's nice and smooth. The banking is not an issue with the exception of the transition from turn 6 up onto the banking.

Class! I only watched parts of this year's Daytona 24 Hrs - as opposed to Le Mans, which I watch every year

No reason to miss Daytona now. In fact, seeing as I watch Le Mans, FE, IndyCar, NASCAR - they're all in there, I really should have watched before

All LMP2 cars are Gibson powered no matter which chassis they use (UA is using the Ligier) so he's good on that front.

Can you imagine his engine failing anyway???

What a bummer!

I hope not, I really want to see him taking the game to another series, see what he can do apart from Indy
