I think its a bit over the top.. prepared to die for a point or even kill someone else in the process..
What happens to hard but fair racing like you see in top drivers ?

There was a topic after testing about whether Haas could get on the podium, given their promising pace. I said no at the time because Grosjean will stick it in the wall every 3 weekends and blame everyone but himself, whilst KMag will get into needless incidents being over aggressive and lose out through damage and penalties. I stick by this.

Both Haas drivers have an attitude problem.

Bad attitude. Not sporting at all. I actually fear for the drivers. I just hope he gets a few more points on his license and a race ban soon, because he is not far off to that point.

He is welcome to endanger his own life but what gives him the right to make that decision for others.

It's the "Me" generation. A bunch of kids like Max and KMag who grew up believing that they were the center of the universe. It's an unintended consequence of the internet age. All these apps that people use all day every day basically just coddle them and placate their egos. Watch two F1 videos on Youtube and you'll have a dozen of them in your recommendations a minute later. All of these apps that come out of Silicon Valley are just designed to get people hooked on Dopamine and to feed their egos with agreeable content 24-7 while never confronting them with something challenging. We are raising people to be spoiled, coddled, disrespectful and totally unreasonable; to feel that the world should be tailored to them and that their wants, needs and desires are the only ones that matter. Rant over.

His attitude to me shows that drivers agree with me that the sport is now too safe.

Exactly. It's one thing to be pushing to the absolute limit on his own, running the risk of putting it in the wall or whatever for an extra tenth, knowing that he could end up hurting himself, but it's another thing when you're putting other drivers in the wall because you don't care if you kill yourself in the process. It's just completely selfish.

If I were the GPDA reading these comments, or even the FIA, I'd be taking it very, very seriously.

Isn't his team mate chairman of the GPDA? A bit awkward.

Well, in an Autosport article today, things sound somewhat different.
He apolgizes to Gasly and qualifies the other comments that were done before Baku.
Still, a stupid comment, even if meant in a different way.

All drivers need to accept the risk they might have a fatal accident but you mustn't adopt a fatal driving style. You don't defend to the point of colliding.

Having said that I think Gasly needed to be further ahead to pass and should have backed off.

i'm sorry I don't understand he was puling alongside Kmag on a flat out section of track. He wasn't near a braking zone. I think if you can get alongside someone on what is effectively a straight you shouldn't expect to be run into the wall. This wasn't Kevin trying to adopt a racing line and finding Gasly in the way.

Kmag is really looking for trouble:

I hope he gets 2 more points. For the next offense then, he will sit out a race.

I think he'll end up getting a ban this year at some point. There is a terminal lack of respect towards his competition. It seems to be an epidemic among the younger drivers nowadays...

Well, it's always been this way in fairness. I remember Senna taking Schumacher on the side to pull his ear or even having a swing on Irvine.

I think the cars just race much closer together these days than they did even 20 years ago.

He was supposed to be on his last warning after Baku and now apparently he's on his second last warning, sounds a bit like the stewards crying wolf?

I think the cars just race much closer together these days than they did even 20 years ago.

Indeed and yet there are complaints about the cars today being noncompetitive, rose tinted glasses perhaps?

On another note this is systematic of how much safer the cars are nowadays to the extent that some drivers may feel they are invulnerable to be getting seriously hurt?

Yes definitely. This is the first generation of drivers that didn't grow up watching drivers pass away and getting badly hurt regularly. Couple that with driving on extremely safe tracks in extremely safe cars the attitude is bound to be different.

That being said I think in general the standard of racing among drivers is solid. Look at some of the moves people like Alesi and Berger attempted to make in the early 90s. Drivers run so much closer for so much longer now. It's inevitable they will trade carbon more often.

Does anyone here really want to see Magnussen move to Ferrari, just to see him fight at the front?

There's a part of me that absolutely loves KMags ultra aggressive driving style. I want to see him race against Lewis and Max for a podium or a win. Fireworks guaranteed.

No, I want to see him out of F1. I don't think his brand of driving has any place in single seaters, let alone the top category.

Yeah, right, put more Sirotkins, Strolls and Hartleys into F1 instead.

Did I say anything about more pay drivers? How about Norris or Russel? I'd like to see Rosenqvist get a chance too, and I'd love to see what a top Indy driver like Newgarden could do, or maybe a WEC up-and-comer like Conway. There's lots of good drivers out there who can drive cleanly as well as fast.
