I have to ask this question again.. Anyone knows who's the sponsor on the intake above the driver's head in Red and white? Does it say "Kimi" and if so, why?

Its not unusual for f1 team to have their drivers names on the cars. Not everything printed on the car has to be a sponsor commercial. Remember Mclaren back in the days

So it is confirmed its Kimi's name?

Even on Romain's car?

I do remember the McLaren's featuring their drivers names, but after that no other team have done it again

it wasn't on Grosjean's car. On his car he had 'Romain' written in this place, not Kimi.

I thought the names Kimi and Romain where there just temporarily and Lotus are going to put Honeywell there when and if they seal the sponsorship deal.

They used driver names simply because they had to remove the tobacco sponsor's ad 'WEST".

You can clearly see they used driver names but with the distinct 2 lines of WEST logo. This was probably until the sponsorship contract ran out.
Later there were races where the same space did not have the WEST logo, and simply had the driver name.

Either ways, I think in the case of Lotus, the space seems to be for a sponsor, rumored to be Honeywell but not just yet.
Maybe by the next season or by Melbourne.

Kimi didn't wear a ring for all of last season, I don't think this was any big surprise.

Jenni is now with Steve Guerdat, a Swiss Olympic-level equestrian who competes in the sport of show jumping.

Aren't they denying that though, and doing some legal actions against the paper the published this?

Actually I don't think it involves Kimi in any way who Jenni spends her time with. I couldn't care less who she's dating or not-dating.

Kimi has apparently switched from Arai helmets to Bell HP7, which he tried out during last week's tests.

Gro uses Bell. Maybe easier for Lotus?

If there's a driver on the grid who can deal with a competitive team mate, it's Kimi.

I would like to see a lot more laps for Lotus in testing... I like the speed, but they seem to spend a lot of time in the pits. Usually it Kimi as he likes things changed a lot on the car, but none the less.

Lotus had trouble with telemetry. They could not run long runs, just short ones because the connection between pit and car was cutting.

Times are fast...

F1 Testing: Kimi Raikkonen frustrated by data issue on day one
Tuesday, February 19th 2013, 18:05 GMT

"Kimi Raikkonen Lotus F1 2013Kimi Raikkonen ended day one of Barcelona Formula 1 testing frustrated as a data issue limited Lotus's mileage.
Raikkonen was second quickest, just 0.007 seconds behind pacesetter Nico Rosberg's Mercedes.
But the Finn's tally of 44 laps was the lowest of the day, as problems with data-logging diagnostics interrupted Lotus's programme.

"We only did short runs," said Raikkonen."

Would like him to get more laps under his belt especially when you consider how many laps some of the others have done, always seems to be some kind of niggling problem with Lotus.

From Autosport Live:

Quote:
13:02 The E21 requires a gearbox change and with only limited spares available it is taking time. The Finn only managed four shakedown laps this morning.

13:02 Latest news from Lotus is that it could be some time before Raikkonen comes back out again.

Well, still better than last year I guess, when they had to skip a whole test because of the chassis issues.
I wonder though if they want Kimi to still test a bit instead of Grosjean, assuming they can fix the car for tomorrow.

3rd fastest is nice.... BUT, these tires are falling apart so fast for these teams... Kimi added a second per lap for the 3 following laps.

Some gems in there.

About the issue they've been having:
Q: Looking at 2013 and the new car, the first test in Jerez seemed to be pretty positive for the team. Can you confirm that?
KR: We didn’t have any real issues in Jerez. The biggest problem here and in Jerez is basically the new software. We lose all the data when we are running - that is not very good when you are testing and you have some issues with parts and you cannot see it in real time. The car itself is running well - we just have to get that stupid data logging system fixed.

And of course:

Q: Does it surprise you that you are still Ferrari’s last world champion?
KR: Ha! Yes it’s nice. But it will change one day. Maybe this year, maybe next year!

;)
