The Alfa Romeos are both in front of the McLarens. What a dumpster fire.

If I say Alfa Romeo, it sounds better than Saubers

So close between Vandoorne and Alonso here but the former unable to end his qualifying losing streak to Alonso.

Seb whines constantly, but I have to agree with him on this. That was nonsense. If the others want to drive 80 km/h they should go out on the highway and let the big boys race.

Vettel had to back out for sure or that would have ended badly

Well it’s only one Alfa Romeo but still. How draggy is that McLaren car? Jeez...

Right. Misspoke (wrote?). Either way, it's McLaren and Sauber. What have they done to that package?

Does Ham needs to start on that tyre that he flatspotted?

Bottas turning the tables on Hamilton all through qualifying like this and so emphatically is surprising!

Damn Merc might have this if Hamilton can get a lap together. Genuinely didn't expect that on a power track with an old engine vs a brand new upgraded Ferrari one.

Has anything been said/written about how much faster the new Ferrari is compared to the old merc engine?

Haven't seen anything about the new specs, but even if there's no technical improvement a brand new PU has got to have an advantage over one that's done 6 races

He keeps locking up at the hairpin, he can't get a decent lap in.

credit to him, he's pretty good at pulling one out of the fire in final qualifying. I shouldn't write him off just yet

Kimi doing what he does best, Hamilton made another mistake in the same corner.

Good lap by Vettel. Should have been a Ferrari front row lockout. Kimi should be ashamed...

Great lap by Max. To bump Hamilton (and muppet Kimi) with a PU deficit on this track is special

Fantastic effort from Max! After serene progress, Hamilton didn't get it together in qualifying and Bottas did a fine job. Examplary from Vettel. Kimi had a chance to at least get P3 but messed up early on his second flyer.

Qualifying this season has been so entertaining, I must say.

Impressive of Verstappen to get ahead of Hamilton. Although I guess you could say poor from Hamilton as well. Should be a good race though!

Very surprised by Hamilton's struggles here. It seems to go back to that suspension change he made late in FP3. Ever since then there have been a lot of lockups from him. But he's on the back foot here without question. For Vettel and Ferrari, tomorrow should be a pretty straight forward day but of course this year safety cars have played such a huge role in the races. I bet he'd kill for a boring race.

he did close the gap a bit to be fair. But yeah, he shouldn't have let Max get in front of him. But he did better than Kimi!

Kimi is so immensely frustrating. He's looked on it all qualifying but he almost always messes up when it counts most. It's rage-inducing! he really let Ferrari down today and they should have had a front row lockout

It's why Ferrari need a stronger number 2, needs to deliver because it's critical for races that both drivers need to be ahead of the rival driver and be able to keep position at the start.

Poor qualifying from Hamilton but at least he has Verstappen directly in front of him rather than directly behind him, if you know what I mean?
