I don't find it that amazing really. Look at the amount of other drivers that beat the lap record. Ericsson in 15th was still basically 2.5 seconds slower than Hamilton so still well ahead of the record. And that is in a Sauber. Even the slowest of all the runners in a terrible Williams (sirotkin) was over a second faster than this tracks record.

Why do people say this, it's just simply different drivers with different driving styles.

Just like Button was smooth and gets the job done that way as well.

Vettel rotates the car with the rear, or go look at Kimi's fast laps he looks like he's not even trying.


No it's not. I have seen plenty of fast laps from Lewis that were extremely smooth. More likely an indicator that the Ferrari was better balanced with more grip and Lewis had to drive that way to beat them
