This looks like Verstappen's race to lose. Hamilton has to fight back from 3rd.

Well, almost every driver has been getting better starts than verstappen recently, so maybe it will be a mercedes 1 - 2 if overtaking is a nightmare here :D

Max is due to have a good start and I think he will manage to keep the lead. I just fear that Bottas is going to be holding up Hamilton and Verstappen might disappear in the distance. Lewis has under performed in qualifying this year imo and it may be starting to cost him. If Max wins this race, Lewis is one DNF away from being vulnerable to Max in the championship. Hopefully it's a good race.

Yeah. There are 9 races after tomorrow's race. Verstappen has upped the ante seriously & he looks more likely to challenge Hamilton for wins than Bottas.

Agree with all of this post but we'll see.

It is possible that Hamilton being third on the grid will be good for him, clean side and a slip stream all the way to turn one.

Its a very long run to T1, I think there is a high chance of contact between any of the top 3 and very unlikely they will remain in that order once it works out after the first few turns.

Being third might give him a shot at Bottas, who will get a run at Max through the slipstream but we all know Max is likely going to defend the inside hard and push Bottas wide on exit if he is too agressive. Lewis then can pounce on that opportunity. One of the Ferraris taking a spot from Lewis is also very possible.

It will be interesting for sure, Verstappen might well be agressive when he had nothing to lose, but now I'm not so sure! Both Bottas and Hamilton are clean drivers and MV can't really complain anyway when he is an advocate of hard racing.

But you are right, Vettel with something to prove could be interesting, and I would be amazed if Leclerc finished the race after shunting the wall that hard so he might look for early glory.
Should be an interesting race!

Don't forget about the Ferraris behind as well. They could make a lightning start as well. I wonder if Bottas is ahead of Hamilton after turn 1, would Mercedes overcut Bottas so he at the end finishes ahead of Bottas?

I doubt it. If Bottas (or Hamilton for that matter) is slow and really holding the other up then they might issue an order to let the other past

This will only happen if they deem Hamilton has a chance to win and Bottas doesn't. They would not do that otherwise. During the height of the 2017 title fight between Hamilton and Vettel, Hamilton let Bottas back through.

Interesting problem for Verstappen.

If, as he claims he will, makes a fast start then no problem, however, if he is slow off the line then which does he do, try to cut off Bottas or block Hamilton ? Difficult.

I've got a strong feeling that a fast starting Ferrari is going to go bowling at T1.... just a feeling.

That was a mega start by Verstappen.

Looks like Bottas' Merc career is toast now.

Not that you can overtake but you would prefer the Bottas train behind you rather than anyone else.

He actually damaged the win after contact with Leclerc, very clumsy by Bottas, 2 lock ups and 2 contacts.

Too far behind?

Surprised that Leclerc moving across on Bottas isn't being looked at.

The Leclerc one was absolutely not his fault. That looked very dodgy to me and I'm surprised the stewards are not even investigating it. Seems a bizarre decision.
