I understand. Was just thinking of a nicer layout. It's been the same for a long time now that's all. It has an older feel to it, if that makes any sense.

Think your best bet would be something similar to what I did with the stylesheets, though I tell you, the styling for this place is an utter state so trying to apply alterations to it is a headache on an epic scale.

In almost 6 years the techies haven't got this forum running smoothly 24/7. Starting afresh now probably won't help in my personal view.

That said, I might try and play with the colour scheme. Or maybe Aqua should, you're better with the admin panel than me!

+ half loaded pages, lack of stylesheet pages, general slow loading on pages that do eventually turn out ok too. Been having these issues all day on both mobile and PC.

Would it be possible to gather up all the syntaxes for embedding tweets etc. somewhere?

Author:  Mod Yellow [ Mon Dec 11, 2017 4:52 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: FEEDBACK THREAD

Bold:
Italic:
Underlined: [ u][/u]
Quote: [quote][/quote]
Code Text: [ code][/code]
List: [ list][ /list]
Ordered List: [list=][/list]
Elements inside the ordered list: [*]
Image: [ img][/img]
URL: [url][/url]
Facebook Video Embed: [fbvid][/fbvid]
Instagram Embed: [instagram][/instagram]
Tweet Embed: [tweet][/tweet]
Youtube Embed: [youtube][/youtube]

Remove the errant spaces in underlined, code, list and image, it wont show them up for some reason otherwise. That's the full list from the full editor though, don't think there are any other ones in use [did I dream about us having a spoiler tag at some point?]

We used to have spoiler tags... They were originally created for the previous forum but I'm sure someone added them here too. Either that or we're both going senile.

Post subject:  Re: FEEDBACK THREAD

Code:

[b]Bold Text Here[/b] For bold text
[i]Italics Here[/i] For Italic text
[u]Underlined here[/u] For underlined text
[quote]Quote here[/quote] For quoted text
[list]List points here[/list] For an unordered list
[list=][*]List points here[/list] For an ordered list
[img]Image link here[/img] For an image link
[url]Link Here[/url] For a link
[fbvid]Facebook video link here[/fbvid] To embed a Facebook video
[instagram]Instagram link here[/instagram] To embed an instagram post
[tweet]Twitter link here[/tweet] To embed a twitter post
[youtube]Youtube video link here[/youtube] To embed a youtube link

Whole thing wrapped in the code tag, which is what it is for lol. A lot easier to read too.

Thanks, reason I asked was because I couldn't embed a tweet and was wondering if I remembered the syntax wrong, but turns out you just can't have a return between the tags, like so:
Twitter link here
[/tweet]

Thanks for the full list, would maybe be useful to add in the OP?

I don't know. It would be nice if they updated the forum a bit. Even phpBB can be mobile friendly.

I see the powers that be have been branching out recently, planetfootball has been a thing for a while now, and tennis365 just got a big push with a Jonny Nic article linked to on F365 too... maybe someone can rattle a can in their direction for a few coppers for the meter? Haha.

Saying "America doesn't have a driver good enough for F1" Or words to that effect is inappropriate? Really?

If so why was my post saying Great Britain don't have a skier good enough to compete for the Alpine cup not similarly moderated?

Following feedback received regarding nesting of quotes causing massive vertical scrolling, I have added some javascript and CSS to autohide and have quotes click to view, much like spoilers.

This got me thinking that having an option to highlight areas of text in a quote or in your own text could be useful, so I added a new highlighter tag:
Code:
[highlighter] Highlight your text like this!!![/highlighter]
[h]Or like this...[/h]

Is there a possibility to have this accessed from a checkbox in your UCP? I wasn't bothered by it before, and I find myself having to click lots of 'click to show' links now...

I've set it so the first quote is not hidden, but any nested ones are, is that better?

Was going to ask if that's possible, think it's the best way to avoid excess stuff while keeping things in context!

Aye, the nested ones say 'Hide' even if they are hidden.

Author:  Covalent [ Tue Feb 27, 2018 6:43 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: FEEDBACK THREAD

Yes it seems only the latest nested one has a label that updates correctly to "show" when it´s hidden. Another bug is that the hide/show feature only works the second time you click it. After you´ve clicked it once it works correctly afterwards, but only in that particular post.

It does look dated, and not particularly mobile friendly.

Also notification system is fairly low par. A lot of forums have notifications so you know if someone has quoted you, makes following conversations a lot easier.

When I release the new CSS I can put in an option so it highlights your quotes in antoher background colour, so you can see them when scrolling.

Awesome, thanks! I guess customisable notifications are out of the question (ie someone has quoted you, someone has liked your post..)?

Post subject:  Re: FEEDBACK THREAD

We've got no access to the back end of the forum, so any changes we can make are by and large visual ones, or ones that can be done with a bit of JS/CSS trickery. Alas, customisable stuff like that is beyond our capabilities.

Post subject:  Re: FEEDBACK THREAD

Seems a shame to close the latest Ferrari quitting thread. It's a current story and was largely on topic. I don't think a thread needs to be closed because two people have dissenting views. I mean, that's kind of the point of a forum? I know they were starting to express their points a bit aggressively, but if someone steps over the line surely it makes more sense to sensor the poster not call a halt to the whole discussion.

Post subject:  Re: FEEDBACK THREAD

I'm going to post to the effect I did to the other mods, but please be aware I'm happy to be overruled on this one and a decision hasn't yet been reached.

The thread has still yet to have any solid foundation beyond Bernie mouthing off, which is a lot less newsworthy since he was deposed. So fendemantally there's no actual story in the first place, and then there's the issue of discussions getting heated. Which I agree is a lesser factor when it comes to locking a thread.
