I'm going to post to the effect I did to the other mods, but please be aware I'm happy to be overruled on this one and a decision hasn't yet been reached.

The thread has still yet to have any solid foundation beyond Bernie mouthing off, which is a lot less newsworthy since he was deposed. So fendemantally there's no actual story in the first place, and then there's the issue of discussions getting heated. Which I agree is a lesser factor when it comes to locking a thread.

I get that, but the idea of Ferrari puling out is still a current theme. How long ago was it that Marchionne himself was mooting it? Bernie's comments are hardly without foundation. I don't see what the benefit of locking the thread is? It seems to have engaged a fair number of posters, surely if forum members want to discuss an F1 related topic then they should be able to?

We've got no access to the back end of the forum, so any changes we can make are by and large visual ones, or ones that can be done with a bit of JS/CSS trickery. Alas, customisable stuff like that is beyond our capabilities.

Is there some trickery or wizardry that can be done to have links open in a new tab?

They should be able to do that if they are able to insert a little Javascript.

Indeed it is. Added. Let me know if anyone encounters any bugs with it.

Wow that was fast! Much appreciated. Works like a charm at least on win10+chrome.

Not sure if this is the right area to post this but I've noticed that two recent PM's are stuck in the outbox rather than transferring to sent mail. I'm not sure if this is something I am doing or a forum issue?

I beleive messages stay in the outbox until they are read by the recipient.

This is correct. You can delete them from the outbox if you need the room, but although the receiver still gets a notification of a PM if you delete it, the actual message you send is replaced with a note saying that it has been deleted by the author before you received it, so unless you dont mind the message not sending, just leave it in the outbox.

With the new improved quotes, I'm going to put this request out there again: Could you do a little script that removes the first quote automatically if the maximum amount of quotes is about to be exceeded?

Or do we even need a maximum amount of quotes anymore now they are hidden?

White pages, no css on some pages, forum just plain refusing to load at times too during the race. Wrecks half the fun of posting on here during the race. Both on mobile and on PC.

Surely it's time someone found a fix?

Today probably goes down in history as a good day for anyone who doesn't like looking at the error pages and white screens, I had an email from one of PF1's technical team so have filled them in on what's been going on. Apparently Football365 - which we at least used to share servers with, though I don't know if we still do - has been having a lot of problems too, mostly relating to the age of the software, so hopefully we either have the same problems, in which case replicating the fixes will be a 'simple' matter, or they have it worse and we're an easier fix.

Will keep you all apprised as and when things happen.

Grease him with caffeine twice daily and if he's less than ten years old, you're good.

I am getting lots of random black boxes appearing in the forum screen when a scroll or type anything. Struggling to read posts (using Chrome).

Cheers

[edit] Ah oddly enough this only happens when I've got facebook open on the previous tab so probably not your problem - cheers!

Thanks, if it pops up again, if you are using a brower like Chrome, Firefox or Safari could you right click on it and select "inspect element" to bring up the web inspector and then take a full window screenshot (don't need to see your tabs, just the page and the web inspector) so we can see the details of the element. The more information we can send to the site admins the better...

Edit, when you do it, it should look something like this (I right clicked on your thumbnail in this example):
