Formula Progeny sounds cheesy. I liked the Formula Offspring title better. Food for thought I guess, but otherwise I have no contribution to this thread.

Why not, "F1 The Next Generation" or just "Generations"?

There are a few ones not mentioned here:

Aurelien Panis is doing FRenault 2.0 alongside Louis Deletraz, Roy Nissany is in Euro F3.

Tbh though, because they are all a bit mediocre so maybe that's why

It's a measure of how rapid Max Verstappen's rise to F1 has been that his name isn't even mentioned in this thread, despite the fact it's only two-and-a-half years old.

And how many of us are (still) aware that Max is the son not only of a racing father, but a pretty darn good racing mother too?

Strange to think that VMax's dad replaced KMag's dad at what is now Red Bull in 1998.

Deletraz and Nissany, although mentioned, are not in your opening post yet :)

Giuliano Alesi won 2/3 of the races and both poles during French F4 last weekend having moved up from karting.

I wonder what you guys this - nature vs. nurture? Is it really their DNA that makes them capable of becoming racing drivers or that they've started at an early age and had excellent coaching from their racing legend fathers?

Money! You can have all the talent in the world and you're basically stuffed if someone isn't funding your karting career as a child. Conversely, if you are a talentless heap of rubbish in the car, it won't matter if you're driving this year's Mercedes, the other guy will beat you.
Finally, being good at driving a racing car may be down to some genetic factors but if you adopt your mother's genes and she's not Lela Lombardi then you haven't got much chance :)

Louis Deletraz to move up to Formula 3.5 V8 next year with Fortec. Pretty impressive for a driver who looked so uninspiring in his first year of cars a while ago. Certainly has the potential to be a much better driver than his dad.

Do you have any information on Schumacher's son or Häkkinen's son? Didn't they both race in karting at some point in the past??

yeah both.

Schu's son raced under the alias... this is great...."'Mika Krauthausen"!!!

Mika's son Hugo - no doubting the genes:

Hugo Hakkinen is a future world champion. You heard it here first. See you in 15-20 years, guys ;)

Hugo has given up karting and is now focussed on football apparently.

As does Ray Charles.

Should really update this, specially with headlines like Piquet beats Alesi in GP3!

In a way it's a shame Alesi is part of the Ferrari academy. He might just be the Japanese* driver Honda are looking for.

*If he is Japanese enough
