Lots of action at the beginning, bit boring at the end. And the championship is more interesting now.

It sure was a good race. After the explosion of excitement that was Abu Dhabi, this does pale in comparison, but has good entertainment value.
Just hope they can fix the dirty side, it stirred up quite a bit at the start (with Alonso moving up not only a place, but probably more importantly just to get the clean side).

My only complaint about this race were some of the camera angles, they seemed too low in some places.

Great race. Cameras need improvement. Some cameras angles didn't show off the speed of the cars.

Bernie said that there might potentially be 3 GPs in the US, with him looking to add California. 3 Grand prix's in 1 country is a lot, but if they are all as juicy as the one we had today, I won't blame him!

Or was it the surface and tyres?

Tile was given a layout of what the promoters wanted the track to be like, and he took it from there to ensure it met all of the FIA safety requirements.

The hats were amazing, they should have themed hats for every race

Bowler for British
Beret for French
Hat with Corks for Australia
Stahlhelm for Germany

Any others?

Great event, thrilled for the sport and the country. Hopefully the racing will be even better next year with a better pair of compounds.

my view is the race was good - and the only thing I would change would be a second or longer drs zone as I think more overtaking chnces were needed.

Exactly. believe it or not, here in Texas most of us don't wear cowboy hats, ride horses or even herd cattle!
But- I do have barbed wire fences to keep my neighbor's horses out of my yard.

Er, what? One DRS zone of that length was perfect. Just long enough to bring cars with a big enough advantage alongside but no more, and give drivers the chance to use their skill to overtake under breaking into the hairpin. Plus we had oppurtunistic overtaking into turn 1, 2 and around the stadium complex. The DRS shouldn't be a free ticket like at certain other tracks, which further compounds things there by discouraging skillful overtaking around other parts of the track.

Ok - but from what I saw (and I watched the whole) there was hardly bucket loads of overtaking as I recall? The track is not an overtaking type track IMHO and was still allowing a bit of a procession....

Loved the heli-cam view as Lewis was chasing Vettel on the slight elevations in the DRS zone. Fantastic!!

For a new facility hosting it's first ever race, today was a smashing success! I haven't read of any negatives at all from fans or media that were there. It will only get better next year. The track will be more seasoned, and Pirelli will have baseline info to bring a wider range of tyre compounds. The camera angles will be better, everything will just be better. Awesome debut, and my rear end will be there for all three days next year.

I think having a different tire option would have made the race even better. Hard's and Soft's would have improved it I think...granted the guys who run the track wanted another series to have the opening race to kind of clean it before the first race.
