I think the sport as a whole will lose out if Merc don't find some pace for next year...I was never sure it was the right move for Lewis, now I'm getting pretty damn nervous! :?

merc have employed lots of new staff and have lauda also making it clear that this year was unacceptable so next year I think will be a different story and we have a refresh when thwe engines change, then we add lewis's -.0.7 to merc's quali times he would still be top 5 many quali's this year.

Lauda was employed to do much the same job for Jaguar.

It went so well Ford sold the team.

Some of the main new staff are guys fired from other teams. Is picking up other peoples throw aways really a good thing?

Merc have said that they'll be much better after every year. They simply do not know how to build a consistent car. It all seems lethargic and uninspiring to be part of that team

Funny how Button eventually made it to Mclaren and now Lewis has signed for Honda...

Why does he regret it? This race wasn't in 2013

Brilliant drive from Lewis yet again. McLaren are regretting the move after that drive!

The person who started this thread should just be ignored, almost all the threads that they start are about Lewis and in some way are geared towards having a dig at him.

Pathetic quite frankly if you are a so called McLaren 'fan' and this is the first thing you think of after the race

I think the move was sold to Hamilton on the basis that Merc will be well-placed to challenge in 2014, so I don't think he will be particularly concerned. He has said in interviews a number of times already that he's not expecting too much from next year.

Let's not forget that it took Red Bull until their 5th year to build a team capable of challenging for the title. Mercedes may have bought the reigning champions but the team they ended up with was not set up to mount a title challenge after Brawn had been forced to lay off a lot of the staff, and it takes time for the new organisational structure to really start producing results.

i think it's the OP that needs some growing up to do,last week he created a thread about how Lewis fans bash Button....i don't think this is anything but a bash thread by SilverstoneRegular...as usual.

People are awfully quick to forget that Mercedes actually started the year with a very fast car. It's not like Hamilton's moving to HRT next season.

I respect Lewis' decision, coming to Mercedes to help build a contender, even if they're not the best right now. That's a guy who respects his own skills. He's like the opposite of LeBron James.

True.... happiest I've seen him all year and looked real cute in his Stetson they all did.
I think the regret after this race lies more in the direction of Mclaren and its share holders and sponsor's

No doubt about it Lewis lights up the proceedings he is nothing short of exciting to watch has you on the edge from start to finish. Made all the more exciting because his rivals are relentless .
Big big loss to Mclaren at this stage with Red Bull so good and Alonso being Alonso they need Lewis .

He also probably spent the whole race thinking will the car make it to the end !!

I think the only person who can really have regret so soon is Whitmarsh.

Its must be slightly uncomfortable viewing seeing your outgoing driver dominant your remaining driver.

I respect Lewis' decision on going to Merc however there will be times where Lewis might regret his move and i feel this is one of those times. Funny thing is though Damon Hill agrees with Silverstone on this one ( as said in the after show )

Why should he? This is 4th consecutive season where he comes to final gp with extremely little or no chance to win wdc. Regardless of whose fault was it, the McLaren-Lewis duo didn't work since 2009. It's time to part ways.

I really cant understand why we discuss Lewis move away from McLaren is creating this much nonsense.

The reasoning is simple, Lewis is not regretting his move. He is the one who want to move on. It is clear that after many years at F1 he needs a new motivational kick.

Intresting one here is that Merc is no longer developing this current car. They quit it for long time ago. Which gives a good view in how fast the cars are developing in F1.

The "big guys" are racing on and tiny Lotus barely hanging on the development race. Merc drop is devatating for this year.
They will come back strong next year again.
