If Kimi had been taken on by McLaren for 2013, how would he fare against Jenson? Posters' views?

Great question!
I think they would end the season neck and neck. Both so-so qualifiers but great racers and very fair.

Kimi as Jenson is not consistent enough particurly when the car is not exactly to his liking when others can still usually get decent results (Alonso,Hamilton and Kimi as examples), reckon it would be very close though as when he is on song Jenson can match the very best.

Kimi, just because he seems more consistent. But I like both drivers, would make a nice lineup.

It would great lineup to see both drivers on the same team. Definitely the most likable linup on the grid. I think they would be great on a team like McLaren as both have cool heads and neither demands preferential treatment which is right in line with McLaren philosophy

Wouldn't that depend on what driver Macca decided to sabotage? That's how they work isn't it? Or so I've been told..

To be serious.. I think they would be very even. 2 great drivers that both can be very fast and still avoid mistakes.

Its a shame its not the Mclaren line up next year, seems like a solid team and if Jenson went off song like 2009 and 2012 you know Kimi will be there to fly the flag. The worry for Mclaren fans is Jenson going off song and Perez not being up to the job and a race winning car going to waste.

Kimi is more of a consistent driver overall, would likely beat him unless Jenson was hooked up for most of the season, then it would be close or Jenson beating him.

McLaren made the right call, as they can't have two aging drivers, they got Perez as a driver for the future, they have Jenson with the experience.

While I think Kimi is a good driver, we really dont have a measure for him in the Lotus.
We see him doing well, but in comparison to his team mate. How good is he? we dont know.

I actually think Kimi and Jenson would be good together in a team. Different in and out of the car, something for everyone. and both seem to not be bothered with what the team mate is upto

Just because you say it loads doesn't mean it'll come true.

Code:
Jenson Button                 5    7     7   Ret   2    5     8    5      3
Brazil Rubens Barrichello     6    10    1    7    1    6     7    8    4

5 to 3 When they both finished. So I guess RB went off the boil too then.

Or will you finallyrealise the other cars over took them in the development race.

Not quite sure how it would turn out myself.

Though I think they would make good team mates.

Though bias wants me to say Kimi would edge it.

ok here goes - Kimi was beaten by Heidfeld who was beaten by Frentzen who was beaten by Villenueve who was beaten by Button.

There we go all the evidence needed to declare Jenson is superior to Kimi ;)

I think Kimi would beat Jenson.

We've seen Jenson being lost all weekend with no answer for his speed, or shall I say the lack of it. Kimi is better at finding what's not working and what needs to be changed to get the chassis a bit higher in pace. Though Kimi may struggle at times, I'm willing to bet Kimi knows far more times then Jenson as to why the struggles exist.

But Jenson was beaten by Ralf Schumacher, who was beaten by Montoya who was beaten by... yep. Kimi. Then Kimi was beaten by Heidfeld who was beaten by Frentzen who... I'll have to stop before the universe implodes in on itself.

This. Kimi would just give him the Kimi dead in the eye stare and Jb will start struggling for grip.
his tyres would begin too shudder at the mere thought of kimi eating icecream

Actually I wonder if you could go through the whole grid like this...

Grosjean
Beaten by Alonso
Beaten by Hamilton
Beaten by Button
Beaten by Fisichella
Beaten by Raikkonen
Beaten by Massa
Beaten by Schumacher
Beaten by Rosberg
Beaten by Webber
Beaten by Vettel
Beaten by Di Resta
Beaten by Hulkenberg
Beaten by Barrichello

and so it goes on...

Once you get to Barrichello it becomes an infinite loop with Button and Schumacher

How about Glock:
Beaten by Trulli
Beaten by Panis
Beaten by Villeneuve
Beaten by Salo
Beaten by Zanardi
Beaten by R Schumacher
Beaten by Irvine
Beaten by M Schumacher
Beaten by Rosberg
Beaten by Webber
Beaten By Vettel
Beaten by Di Resta
Beaten by Hulkenberg
Beaten by Barrichello

The Loop continues
Whats the longest we can get before an infinite loop or dead end?

I think Jensen and Kimi would make awesome teammates.
Kimi would be faster IMO, but Jensen would have his days and be quicker.
In the end of the year I think they'd be pretty even on points with Kimi having just a touch more.

Love both of these guys, it would be a very close battle.

You've got to keep those loop things to F1 really, Diresta > Vettel is a bit of a long shot.
Did Irvine beat R Schumacher outside of F1?

Yeah I agree, I only copied and pasted it, once you start to get into other series it gets a bit complicated. I may have been looking at the wrong team mates regarding Irvine.

He beat his own tyres in a pit stop once.

I can't find the video where Ferrari only brought out 3 wheels for him but if anyone else has it i'd love to see it again.

Sorry a bit confused. The post I replied to said did Irvine beat Irvine it now says did Irvine beat Ralph. So my post will now make no sense.

I dare to say that Jenson, in my honest opinion, is the least credible world champion on the grid at the moment. He is a good driver no doubt, but Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Kimi are in a league of their own. I say this because I think Jenson won his WDC in what I would like to call the lottery year of the sport and he just hit the jackpot with Brawn.

So Barrichello is now the barometer of how good Jenson should have been?? I remember Jenson himself recently commenting that this year has been like the 2nd half of 2009 where he could not get the car working which is pretty much what lamo said. You seriously dont believe that Jenson extracted the maximum out of his car this year or in the 2nd half of 2009.

On the circuit? Similar to Lewis v Jenson I guess. One is a naturally faster racer but the other will have his days where he hets the car working just right.

Off the circuit? Iceman v Dude - it would be too much of a 'cool-off' for the rest of the grid to handle...

Sometimes I feel this is the way "How would this guy do against this driver".

Well considering in Australia he out right beat Lewis fair and square no excuses, not car setup or nothing - Lewis's face on the podium said it all and he wouldnt of been happy even with 2nd.

Although at times he has been well outplayed buy Lewis there has been moments where he was only a tad off his pace not even .1 of a second.

I cant guess how he would do against kimi, I cant guess how well he would do against Alonso. Personally I would feel he would do better against those two compared to him vs Lewis. Lewis will end Mclaren 2-1 against Button. And I do feel for Button he has already admitted that Lewis has been the fastest team mate he has ever had - thats big words coming from an F1 driver. Lewis is considered top 3 talent of F1 in this generation. The next bunch fighting for 4th would certainly have Button in the fight. Shame he has had so many problems in setup/car this season because last year the car felt good just not matching the pace of the RBR. He was rarely complaining last season and look how well he did.

When the car feels good he can fight Lewis - the guy he says is the best driver he has gone against. Kimi though has been doing a consistent job in a car capable of fighting for podiums nearly every race but between Kimi and Gros both drivers have not done a perfect job this season and even Gros has had the pace to beat Kimi.
