A couple of issues in both sessions for Jenson which will obviously put him a little on the back foot. Pace is promising from Hamilton though and Jenson did get a good long run in so I think we're in a good place.

Roll on qualifying!

I think it's going to be a great race; we could see an all Mercedes powered lockout of the front two rows.

I have to admit, I've had a cheeky couple of quid on the two Mercs for pole purely because the odds were so long.

They'll get nailed in the race through, this is the worst of the circuits when you already have bad tyre deg.

Should hopefully be a McLaren / RBR shootout.

Don't you like her? Jessica Michibata. She doesn't seem to doing too badly. She's still working and travelling around with a multi millionaire sports star. From what I can gather she's well liked within McLaren at all levels also.

Car looks good, and Jense, just like Australia, looks confident and content.
Lewis still doesn't look as happy/relaxed this weekend, so I'm expecting Jense to beat Lewis again.

(Fingers crossed!)

Aduka is obviously upset that Jessica is sitting on Jenson's gear-stick instead of his.

I know I am. Don't tell the missus.

I don't have a problem with that. Button joined Mclaren expecting (and probably hoping) to be challenged.

If you define "gold digger" as any woman that would improve her financial situation by dating Jenson, that rules out 99.99999999999999999% of the women on this earth for Jenson to date and not have that be true. Given the long odds, might as well date one of the cutest...

That was poor. Silly error and then the old 'cant get heat in the tyres' issue. Dissapointed!

Pretty silly race from Button after the dizzying highs of Australia, the one error ruined his whole error and he just couldn't get back on the pace.

Hopefully next week will be a return to form.

one of them races where one sloppy error cost him big time. not often he makes a cock up on an overtake, but at least he has the balls to come out and say "yes it was totally my fault".

Still think Button has what it takes to bring home a 2nd world championship.

What a difference one race makes: last week he was the darling of the paddock, this week one of the worst drivers on the grid. This proves that one should not get so high and mighty after just one race, neither should you be too down after just two races. There is a long way to go.

Oh absolutely. I'm still just as confident as I was after Melbourne that he will provide a strong challenge for the WDC. Just look at Vettel today, double world champ and he made a silly mistake too. Happens to all the drivers. On to the next race I say.

Funnily enough, that's pretty much what Jenson said in his post-qualifying interview on the BBC yesterday...just one of those days. Vettel didn't exactly do a stellar job this weekend either, so JB is in good company.

It's weird, Button and Vettel always seem to have similar weekends. Think back to Brazil 2009 when they both qualified and finished in around the same positions, last year when Vettel and Button were the class of the field. I think there was a race in Belgium (2010?) when they both ended up down the field together too.

Yeah but nobody is perfect, even Mr Alonso has made huge mistakes just look at Australia when he visited the gravel twice ;)

Its just with drivers like JB they get noticed more, nobody cares if Alonso snuffs it (or gets out qualified by Massa who is well under performing and will be sacked any day now).

Silly JB but I was expecting a repeat of Canada ;)

Big year this year I think for Jenson. Button to make it four wins out of the the last five races at Melbourne? I'm pretty confident he will.

The best things about Button fans is we know and acknowledge his limitations no matter what the result we support him and don't look to blame the team for sabotage or any other tinfoil hat crazy theories

It's going to be a funny season because if Jenson delivers and wins the championship people will undoubtably make reference to who isn't in the other seat and if he comes close they will also make reference to what would have happened had his teammate been somebody else!

I've got a good feeling about this year though.

Yeah hopefully the people who make those comments will be too busy with the Nico fans to come on here and make them.. But something tells me they'll make time!

And the worst thing is the constant snide comments that make sweeping generalisations about other drivers' fanbases based on the views of just a couple of people.

It may be worse than that... If Jenson does well this year all the hater will have "concrete" proof that Mclaren did sabotage Hamilton... The Pf1 comment section will go haywire. Imagine getting all those guys in a room. May end up with fist fights.. Would love to see that.

Let's nip this one in the bud early. Don't make comments that may be taken as snide in such a thread. It saves everyone time and effort!

The thread is to chat Button himself, not his or anyone else's fans. Thank you.
