Great pass, but very dangerous, Kimi would rarely engage in such duos.

Only with Schumacher you can make this dance so good.

This has been mentioned previously at other races

Only a certain level of driver can make these kind of moves, with lightning reactions

eg Kimi has been in that class several times this year, where other drivers have simply just crashed

If Kimi would have pass in this way Perez, Maldonado, Grosjean, Hulkenberg, Di Resta sure it would have been an accident.

What an exchange. Really a great battle to make the edge perfect. On the edge.

Just like 2006 only Raikkonen got the upper hand. Funny that Schuey did end up ahead by the end though.

It was absolutely beautiful. About as close as I've ever seen to two cars interlocking wheels in a controlled manner.

Kimi has shown over and over this season that he knows where the edge is, how to get there and that he has the skills to avoid going over it. Whether he is the attacker or the attacked.

Kimi on shumy at spa was great as well. Some of the best overtakes this year have kimi written all over them.

From Shumi's last race 2006 (1st retirement):

Very similar and I would say it was payback from Kimi, but Shumi finished ahead :(.

please take hulk, di resta out of that list...i haven't seen them unnecessarily crash for the whole season except for the last race where the changing conditions caught both of them out and for your notice, kimi did overtake hulk in austin in another spectacular fashion n it was clean defending n clean overtaking.......
n hulk had only 2 retirements the entire season one with mechanical failure n the other was pure racing incident at abu dhabi at start
n di resta also only had one retirement

not really, the critical factor is kimi. he been involving in many awesome wheel to wheel racing.

Reason why he completes all the races so far, because he aint capable in stupid crashing.

The first lap of interlagos sum it well when vet was under emergency braking, kimi sense the move and move out off the track before taking him out and got caught off guard.

Some, probably even Alonso might have chosen to take the new escape road at that point.

This reminds me of Montoya and Schumacher, only difference is Montoya pushed Schumi wider and he had to give up.

This photo doesn't do the move justice. At one point schumacher's wheel was in between Kimi's front and rear wheel, almost brushing against the side pod.

A bit over aggressive from schumi there, luckily it was Kimi.

Makes me wish we could just clone guys like them. If it were anyone else you'd cringe - I just had a big smile on my face through the whole exchange.

Sigh...Why does it hurt now this has passed. Now the season has ended, now Michael is gone. I have almost seen every race Michael drove, I grew up with him, but I never really had any sentiment for him. Now his retirement, after this incredible race, and seeing this picture... sigh.. I'm getting old...

I never liked Kimi at all first time around

This time I have gained a lot of respect for him and his driving ability (apart from one of the early races this year where he refused to come in for tyres and went backwards and lost place after place after place)

Other than that he has been quite exemplary

:? Michael's gone into retirement :( and sadly kimi will do the same in 2-3 years from now. Thing is....do we have drivers so precise and fair like Kimi or drivers so aggressive and eager like Michael anymore on the grid?

Never been a Michael fan but I must admit...he's was a legend! The best driver ever to embrace F1 (better than Ayrton imo) <- don't flame me here :)
In Kimi I can see a driver who had and has tremendous potential but that potential was never realized to the maximum...99% of the time it was his team letting him down!

Hopefully 2013 can be a better year from Lotus and we can get a few Kimi wins! perchance being the WDC contender next year as well will be as good as an ice cream for Kimi fans!

I dont use this word often but that wheel-wheel battle between the two greats was absolutely EPIC! Would like to have seen how it turned out through the long right hander and down the straight too.

Not something you see often :)

That's what happens when two brilliant drivers go wheel to wheel. Definitely good for Schumacher to have such a battle in his last race, even though he lost it - he still has that racing "thing" in him, and F1 will lose that now he's retired, this time probably for good.

The beautiful thing about the battle is that both of them drive at their absolute maximum, but both are aware of how their position is, when to realize they've won or lost, quite simply, they "know what they're doing".
Many younger drivers should take notes.

Yeah, what the hell are Hulk and Di Resta doing there??

Perez, Kobayashi, Maldonado and Grosjean (and Hamilton?), sure but the Force India drivers don't deserve to be included.

As for the move - amazing reactions by the two drivers. Kimi once again being involved in a fair but firm overtake. He's so obviously the fairest driver on the grid but hardly anyone ever seems to mention it.

If you were to look up a definition of clean, respectful and hard racing you'd find this photo.

Brilliance. Schumacher didn't give Kimi an inch in his final race, again. The youngsters should look and learn.

It's funny how some people said prior in the season that Kimi lacks that killer instinct when it comes to overtaking. Unless of course they meant it literally.

I still feel he does a little, though, but maybe I'm mistaking that for knowing that an overtake is not possible, and not going for it (could result in an accident/losing lots of time), but when he actually goes for it, he GOES FOR IT.

I was a very proud Kimi fan this year.

I'm not a massive Kimi fan although I do like him but I think the fact Kimi has been involved in some of the closest wheel to wheel racing all year and finished every lap but one (and even then he only missed that one because he'd been lapped after his little adventure) speaks volumes about not just his ability but his style of racing too.
