Is there anyone else who wants to add their vote to this poll? There are currently 85 votes counted, some still are not counted due to not following the rules (it's not a case of being pedantic, the system just CANNOT count your vote if it does not follow the rules)

Gumption and Zekenwolf - you HAVE to rank all of the drivers in the list for your vote to be counted. This is not me being pedantic, the maths in the system requires that every driver receive a unique rank in order for the average position to be determined. The original list of 25 drivers can be found in DOLOMITE's opening post.

Dolomite, I am (as always) amazed at the amount of work you put into these threads to give all forumers the opportunity to express their views. I haven't participated in it (my classification gets messy after the first twelve guys!), but thank you for giving us that chance. :)

I think it's AlienTH that's doing this now. Dolomite opted to leave the thread in light of some not very clever comments made about the ranking itself.

Thanks ATH for keeping the stat collection alive...

Perhaps we need to start a 'Who (or should that be HOW?) wants to see DOLOMITE stay on this forum?'

91 votes counted... can we make 100?

Hamilton/Alonso, Perez/Massa and Vergne/Pic are the closest driver pairs on the rankings, all less than 1% difference in their percentage.

The biggest gap is between 4th/5th, between Kimi and Button, at 10% difference. Kimi is the most consistently ranked driver in 4th place, with the top three invariably split between Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel. This is the closest that Alonso has been run for first place that I can remember - which may surprise given the year most pundits consider he has had, although that might be down to the fact he was perceived as choking in the final two races in qualifying and the fact that Hamilton's year is also seen as being equally flawless from a driving perspective by many people.

Strangely it's 93 - I think I must have received a PM from someone who amended their previously illegal vote since my last post. Rankings are still the same and visible at http://www.randomperspective.com/DOLOMITE

I'll add some more statistical interpretations of the data once I get the chance to write the scripting for it. (And maybe other stuff as well, like a user being able to tell how their vote compares to the average)

After receiving an extra vote for this I decided to go back and make a couple of tweaks to the analysis page so everyone can see how they personally stack up against the general vote.

http://randomperspective.com/DOLOMITE/

If you scroll down there is a list of everyone who voted and their average difference to the norm - they are then colour coded (so green if you a very close to a perfect match and red if your list bore little correlation, most of us are an inbetween shade of yellowy orange.

Of course, this is always open for more votes, I am thinking about making a web app where people can enter their own vote for the next time we do this, although obviously I'll need to think up a system to prevent people from spamming it with multiple cheat votes.

Top 3 could be any order really, i downmarked Alonso because at seasons end he often wasn't as good as Massa when he needed to be at his best against the superior Red Bull, up to then he was odds on favourite for best driver. For Vettel i believe he struggled too much in qualifying at the beginning of the season when the car wasn't at his best ,relative to Webber, a bit surprising given as this is supposed to be one of his strengths. For Hamilton i can only remember two races were Button was superior, Australia and Spa, he was very consistent throughout.

You've listed Senna twice, is the second "Senna" meant to be D'Ambrosio?

All drivers have to be listed for your vote to be counted.

I have now updated it so you can click on the person's bar and it shows you how their vote compares to the average:

For example, like this:

Code:
#0    Lewis Hamilton     Difference: +1
#1    Fernando Alonso    Difference: -1
#2    Sebastian Vettel   Difference: 0
#3    Kimi Räikkönen     Difference: 0
#4    Jenson Button      Difference: 0
#5    Mark Webber        Difference: +1
#6    Nico Hulkenberg    Difference: -1
#7    Pastor Maldonado   Difference: +3
#8    Felipe Massa       Difference: +1
#9    Nico Rosberg       Difference: -2
#10   Daniel Ricciardo   Difference: +5
#11   Kamui Kobayashi    Difference: +1
#12   Heikki Kovalainen  Difference: +4
#13   Michael Schumacher Difference: -2
#14   Timo Glock         Difference: +4
#15   Charles Pic        Difference: +5
#16   Bruno Senna        Difference: +1
#17   Sergio Perez       Difference: -9
#18   Romain Grosjean    Difference: -5
#19   Paul di Resta      Difference: -5
#20   Vitaly Petrov      Difference: +1
#21   Pedro de la Rosa   Difference: +1
#22   Jean-Eric Vergne   Difference: -3
#23   Jerome D'Ambrosio  Difference: 0
#24   Narain Karthikeyan Difference: 0

You need to click on the bar next to the user's name (on the bottom half, not the bit with the drivers) - so for example where it says your name, Sin, it then has an orange bar with 2.72 - click on that bar to see how your results compare to the norm.

If that's not working then let me know which browser you are using.

Surely if you rate Hulk 1st you would have to put Di Resta in the top 6?

theoretically i should, but i don't. starting Valencia Hulkenberg beat Paul in every single race they finished together bar Singapore, sometimes by quite a margin as well.

Another thing in my post is Rosberg, who i found difficult to rank. 2012 saw MSC get very close in terms of raw pace, but could that be attributed to Merc doing a lot of testing starting mid season? (something to look for in 2013 perhaps?) or maybe Rosberg did have a bad season. Even so i believe Rosberg can beat Lewis next year as he is quite fast, maybe i should bump him up to above MSC. but the merc was so poor after Monaco that both drivers disappeared, so it is hard to rate them.

ATH, what should i do to change my rankings?
