Not sure man, I would imagine it would be designed to weigh the same, as it will affect car balance slightly if it was heavier.

that was my initial thought - then merc have decided to persue ddrs on the front wing despite it making the car heavier so i thought i'll ask ;)

besides... from the right angle the redbull frontwing is a very flappy matter too...

According to this site:
http://www.racecar-engineering.com/cars/sauber-c32/

Sauber did a one lap run with this sensor mounted on the roll hoop, it has not been run on the car since.

Horner on the significance of Massa's time: "It depends what fuel load they're running. If they have 150kg then we're in trouble, if not then who knows..."

If they have 150kg of fuel on board it will be a two horse fight between Alonso and Massa (presuming the car is to Massa's liking) but I think that would be good to see actually :)

Highly highly doubt it.

is a 5 element front wing really that unusual? I mean I'd just like to know what configurations other teams are running.

Ferrari are using a 6 element front wing. Most of the other teams have a 4 or 5 element front wing. Nothing out of the ordinary from mercedes.

The fastest time by a 2012 car at this test last year was a 1'18.419 by Grosjean. Massa's beaten that with a 1'17.879 today

Apparently Raikkonen set the same lap twice... twice! In a 7 lap stint!

This looks very different to last year. Teams seem to understand the tyres better as the times are going down over a stint. I'm not sure all these stories of 5-stop races are going to happen you know, looks like 2-stop from here.

This is mainly basing it on the Merc. Maybe they have a very good car...

Yes, according to Autosprot
10:42 Massa - on soft tyres - then puts in a slow lap (1m31s).

I really couldn't give a crap what happens to Marussia.

I mean if the whole team died I'd be sad. But other than that, no.

Softs and super softs are different compounds.

Has actually anyone tried the super softs yet? Although at Jerez they're probably going to be finished in half a lap.

still down to a couple of facts unknown:
how do the tyres cope with the force applied during a quick quali-lap?
how do the tyres cope with a car carrying 150kg fuel?
what tyres are brought to the specific event?

if pirelli wanted to, they could make lots of races 4-5 stoppers by just going softer - but that won't be their aim i guess...

Remember last year the teams thought and it looked like they had a handle on the tyres.

Come race weekends it turned into a different matter.

I'm mainly looking at the difference between the first lap and the last lap. Last year it was negative, this year it is about the same but positive.

Umm scratch this. I was reading the times BACKWARDS

For some reason the site I was using starts at the bottom and goes to the top now... it used to start at the top and go to the bottom...

My timing now shows he would have done just that. It showed he would have done so earlier today, but it was changed. That bit of info is 20 minutes old. I'm sure it just showed he would have posted two laps in 0.01 from each other though, so I wouldn't rely too heavily on the timing.

That's last year's pit board. The numbers for this year are 22/23. They probably haven't got the new ones yet is all.

As for Merc I still wouldn't call them bulletproof. They managed over 100 laps once, if they do it again and again before Melbourne then fair enough. None of the teams are bulletproof thus far.

Not sure where he's come from, but he won't be their race driver. He's their sim and test driver...hence his lack of practice at pit stops earlier.
