Where is the step nose on the Williams and Ferrari? Even using a modesty panel it's not clear to me that there is a big step in the nose.

Interesting. Different implementation of what Caterham was trying to do in Jerez. Has the legality of this been questioned by anyone yet?

Vettel's done a very quick time.

Would you really expect anything else.

Nah, that is still not the pace we are going to see. Not even close.
Almost entire paddock to go quicker than that time is what I expect.
Last year it was 1:20.xxx IIRC. So this year they should at least match or surpass that here.

I guess they all (maybe expect Caterham and Marussia) should be able to run at least 2 seconds faster.

Apparently there is a little gap in the bridge which might make it legal. Sometimes it can be so simple to get around the rules...

Williams exhaust coming into question, the thing with this is it is very easy to copy and get working so if its legal, it will only be 1 race or even before that before other teams have adopted it - thats if its of a major benefit

we'll have to keep an eye on that ... i don't know the exact wording of the technical directive but the FIA last year made something clear:
Quote:
The FIA has said, however, that any device that it believes is diverting air for the principal purpose of helping aerodynamics will not be allowed.

so whether it is one device or two devices redirecting the exhaust plume seems irrelevant... FIA can still update the technical directive and teams will hop on the protest-train at oz...

This. That is hideous and ruins the livery completely!

I thought DHL was the official F1 logistics company?

I wonder if it will be a testing only sticker.

DHL might be the FIA's official logistics company but it doesn't mean it's the teams. FedEx used to sponsor Williams not long ago too. Rolex is the new face of F1 timing but plenty teams are still sponsored by other watch makers for example.

quite often though a Championship official partner or sponsor will have it that competitors can't be shown. Look at the RWC for an example when one of the Tuilagi brothers got a fine for having the wrong logo on a gum shield because a rival was an official partner of the championship. Or some of Ulsters sponsor logos can't be shown in the Heiniken cup. In those cases the Ruling body can indeed say what the teams can or cannot show.

Heck only have to look at the Olympics for an extreme example of how an Official partner can not just dictate to entrants but also to spectators.

Other watch brands in F1 IIRC precede the Rolex deal so for obvious reasons the teams cannot be asked to terminate the deal overnight how ever the official partner can stop new brands from joining the party.

I dunno the time line of the DHL and Fed-Ex deals if DHL came after Fed-ex went.

It could be a case however that because it's testing the usual rules do not apply and the logo won't be on when they hit Melbourne ;)

Nah, having shown it already, the other teams will ask Charlie Whiting for clarification and he'll let all teams know whether he thinks it is legal or not. Obviously not a definitive ruling as it's not until the first race when the FIA scrutineers will make full judgement, but if Charlie says "I think that's not legal because of X" it will not be used. or he'll say "I think that is legal" in which case most teams will have it in Melbourne...

:D :D :D

If the FIA has to change/update any directive then it's very, very relevant. Williams has found a way around the initial wording in the rules.

What did the horse in the lasagne say to the other horse in the Lasagne?

"I bet nobody'll Findus in here!"

There's nothing wrong with eating horse meat you know. It just isn't a common thing in the UK. It's not like the testing is taking place in the UK anyway.

Anyway back to the cars that definitely have horse power in them...

EDIT: Hold on does that mean Nico is going to be powered by horses in a car powered by horses after lunch? Horses.

Yes of course horse meat is very healthy, arguable that it's healthier than beef. The issue that it came from Romania, more than anything! Who knows what witchcraft has been done to the Lasagne.

I don't know but Perez's laptimes are very consistent. If that's on the soft then we're all buggered.
