I'm sorry but how can Autosport come up with that verdict, Hamilton has 7 poles this year compared to Button's 1. Hamilton won 4 races (would of easily been 6 if the car didn't fail on him in Singapore and Abu Dhabi) compared to Button's 3. Also, despite all the bad luck Hamilton's had, for example, pit stop errors, bad strategy calls, car been unreliability, the car being under fuelled in the Spanish qualifying, Maldonado bashing him off in Valencia and Hulkenberg in Brazil. Maybe, being the British driver of the year isn't simply based on results. Perhaps the people at Autosport, who of course know a thing or two, felt Button was better than Hamilton in some other way. Perhaps they feel he acts as a better role model for the younger generation of British drivers.

Do you not realise that this award was voted for by the readers of Autosport? That actual Formula One fans voted for Jenson over Lewis? Throws a whole new light on it, doesn't it.
