''And finally fun quiz….two drivers each made up an impressive 72 places from lights to flag in races from their grid slot over the course of the 20 race season.''

My guess - Alonso and Webber (oh no wait, not him). OK, Alonso and Perez

I'd take Glock and Pic.

Alonso and Vettel is my guess. Although Perez / Kimi might have that over Vettel, not sure.

Raikkonen is one, maybe Perez the other? I'll check my database and get back to you.

EDIT: My data takes into account positions lost as well, so I get different figures. Petrov gained more than 54 places, so I'm guessing he's the other one with Raikkonen.

I'll throw Schumi into the mix. Probably a bit optimistic given how many DNF's he's had, but at one point he'd made up more places than anyone else in the opening laps.

Relieved to know I'm not the only one who records race data haha. Though I get a little lazy about it each time the driver in my avatar picture has a bad race.

Edit. Misread the question completly.

Vettel and Webber would be a guess. Certainly Vettel. He came up from poor qualifiying's in China, Spa and Abu D so that's at least 40 places. Webber came up in Valencia

I'm going to go with Vettel and Alonso.

Yes but I doubt over the whole race. The updated Coanda scorching his rear tyres in Austin probably rules him right out.

Probably ALO and SEN.

Or RAI and SEN.

But Seb can't overtake and the RB8 only works at the front!

Passes vs Overtakes are very different. China, Monaco, Spain, Spa, Abu Dhabi and Brazil explain a lot of those passes. Although some of his overtakes have been class and definitely proven doubters wrong.

hhm James Allen is looking for the place gained from starting grid ie, where they started and where they finished. If thats the case then Perez is the one, other one could be JEV.

I do it mainly so I can trace seasons back easily when writing up season reviews and the like. Somewhere on the www.fofassociation.org website there is an article in which I looked back through the field to 2003 form, throwing a number of variables into the mix, which is just impossible to do without keeping records.

That reminds me, I was going to look back through to 1994 and try the same again this year... Will link to here if I remember.

James Allen announced the winner and the answer was JEV and Sergio Perez.
