Dec.6 (GMM/Inautonews.com) McLaren fielded the consistently fastest car in 2012, an analysis has shown.

proof that the lewis and button failed miserably.

As I have been saying

According to the German language Speed Week, although Red Bull and Ferrari ended up fighting for the title, it was McLaren with the consistently faster car, based on an averaging of race laps throughout the 20-grand prix season.

Based on all the fastest race laps this year, McLaren was just 1.8 tenths from perfection, the report claimed.

Champions Red Bull came in second with an average of 3.8 tenths off the best, followed by Lotus, at seven tenths.

Ferrari was just fourth, with an average deficit of 7.5 tenths.

“It means Fernando Alonso almost became champion with the fourth fastest car,” the report read.

Surprised about Lotus, but the rest pretty evident I'd say

Yes Zedd, of course Lewis was god-awful all season... failed us all...

Or perhaps, zedd, it was the Mclaren drivers making the difference? What has been measured is the speed of the driver/car combination.

Unfortunately for McLaren, reliability was their achilles heel. They probably compromised it for the sake of speed and it didn't pay off.

there is already a readymade excuse for the next three years at least-- " the (mercedes) car is shit ..."

Bit harsh to say that Lewis failed miserably. I'm not a fan of his but even I acknowledge that he has driven exceptionally well this year. It was reliability and team errors that let him down, not his driving

So, please point out the glaring mistakes that Hamilton made this season which cost him so dearly. Its hardly denial when he has the most pole positions of the year, and would have won 6 races (presumably) had his car not failed while leading two of them, possibly 7 (and an extra pole) if he'd have been fuelled correctly at Spain, given his pace around the track, a podium at least would have been possible.

So, how was Hamilton so weak, and what are the excuses Zedd?

This should be interesting.

I'm not sure how good this article is. If it is averaging a total of all race laps it might have a point but if it has just taken fastest laps then to be honest the article is a bit of a joke.

Of course there is no doubt Mclaren did field a very good car overall speed wise, however its unfair to blame Hamilton. He lost a lot of good positions though no fault of his own, and in those arguably three dominant wins.

Some people are beyond the point where psychiatric help would make any difference.

I implore people to remember this before reacting angrily to the deluded OP.

And Williams had the fastest car '90 and '91.

Arguably Ferrari had it in '99

Williams in '97 and again almost lost.

Arguably Williams in '95 was the faster.

McLaren in 2000

Ferrari in '08 according to some and still lost the WDC.

McLaren in '07

RBR had it in 2010 and still almost lost the WDC.

So Fastest car loses. Newsflash shocker?

No not really it's called racing. Being fastest on it's own is not enough.

Zedd loves to bait, but tends to do it with good data behind his arguments.

I think everyone on the forum knows McLaren had the fastest car, but they also had the worst reliabilty and pretty average team work over the season. If you were to compare the data across all three topics of all three you'd how close the cars/teams really where but you'd see the combination needed to make a champion winning team/ driver (you would probably have to do this per driver)

Car (fastest race laps averaged over a season (im sure a better figure could be found)) Reliability (number of failures across a season) Team work (pit times averaged over a season)

Most people use data like a drunk uses a lamp post: for support rather than illumination.

Try focusing on something funny. I noticed the grammar of the post is all essentially right, except for the sentence where he has a dig at the drivers. It's like he was so frantic to have a go that the hating overtook the typing.

Well we could also say that Button and Hamilton had really bad reliability and pitstops and despite all that they finished on 188 and 190 points which means they are probably the greatest drivers of all time !!!
lol
