I was really hoping for bianchi to get it but I guess Sutil is decent as well. I wonder if this means FI will keep using Mercedes engines in 2014.

Fair play, he's a decent driver, should help them bring home some crucial points. They need to move forward.

Brilliant news. I've been watching all the sources to see if anything would be said today. This is surely a good situation for Force India - Adrian will be pushing hard to prove he deserves to be there, and Paul will be pushing hard to make sure he's not beaten by someone who's been out of the sport for two years!

I kinda feared this was going to happen. Why else did Force India took so long to decide? I hope Di Resta beats him.

I'm with Schumi7 and Amon - disappointed. I don't think he's anything special and I would have liked to have seen FI take on Bianchi as a young fresh driver who could look to take it to PDR.

I think this is a backwards move by FI based purely on financial reasons (either directly based on what AS or JB could provide or based on the financial package going forward in terms of engine supplier)

:D :D :D

I liked Sutil, glad he's back but he will have to show something good this year if he wants to stay.

In a way I'm glad, too many Rookies this year as it is, but on the other hand, I think there are better drivers without a seat, but they weren't really in the running for the seat anyway. I guess this is the best i could have hoped for.

This will be tricky one with a convicted criminal, however everyone deserves a second chance.

Let's remember the 2011 FI was if anything a bit less competitive than the 2012 one, yet Sutil finished 9th, and was voted as one of the best drivers in 2011 by team owners and other F1 experts a like. In that sense he did a better job than Hulk and we know how highly rated he is. Di Resta will have his work cut out but it's his last chance to show he can shine.

Exciting partnership for FI again, lets see if their car is quicker this season consistently.

Oh come on, time to move on. Its not like he's a repeat offender and danger to the community.

He's been punished for what he did, there is far worse going on across the sporting world for this to be seen as a bad signing.

I'd sack di Resta and bring Trulli in. That would be fun

I wanted Bianchi to get it. Sutil is a good solid driver, don't get me wrong, but at the same time, I don't really see where his F1 career is going. He's had chances in other cars and he hasn't exactly set the world a light. Bianchi should have been given the chance in my opinion

Or even better, they could sack Di Resta and get Bianchi and Sutil but that's probably too much to ask for

I remember this. Only because of the conviction, he was axed otherwise who would sack a driver who came 9th in the WDC.

Have been waiting for this news since November of last year.

Here is to Sutil placing the final nail in Paul Di Resta's F1 career.

To be fair even if Di Resta beats Sutil we won't know any more about how good he might be as a driver since Sutil has been out for a year and he nearly beat him once already. Neither will be in a top seat come 2014, that's for sure.

Sutil at FI is still not 100% secure, according to his manager

This is true and it was a joke, but it will be interesting.

Honestly, the more I thought about this lineup, I would like to see how Bianchi would be against a reasonable base like Di Resta. It would have been interesting to see.

Also, I hope Adrian keeps his nose clean and not get himself into any trouble...

Am not sure if it's officially confirmed yet, but I'm glad if it's true. Sutil is definitely a very good driver, and his margin over PdR was almost as much as Hulkenberg's was (though the car wasn't good enough to show for it).

Hope he can grab this chance with all he's got.

I rate Sutil higher than di Resta, so I'll be curious to see how they compare now Sutil has been out for a year. Quite honestly, I still expect Sutil to come out on top - he wouldn't have been fired in 2011 because of his driving, that I'm sure of. Now that story's over and done with, the best piano player on the grid will return to continue showing what he's made of.

I would've liked Bianchi as well, but as di Resta already was there and you can't have everything you ask for, I'm delighted with Sutil.

+1
I'm not in favour of Sutil getting the drive, but come on give him a break. He made a mistake, he was punished and everyone's moved on.

The only interesting thing I find about him is I remember him saying before his trial he didn't consider Lewis as a friend anymore...it'd be pretty interesting to see them race each other again.

Here's the link btw.

In that sense he did a better job than Hulk and we know how highly rated he is. Di Resta will have his work cut out but it's his last chance to show he can shine.

Exciting partnership for FI again, lets see if their car is quicker this season consistently.

Why? Gachot even went to jail and then he raced again. For another team, granted, but he did come back. I see no problem with this

I pretty much expect Sutil's season to go the way Hulkenberg's did in 2012. Wouldn't expect him to be the better Force India driver in the first part of the year, but by Brazil, I would've expected him to have both got on terms with - and ultimately started to out-pace - di Resta. Would anyone be that surprised to see the slower of the two replaced by Bianchi for 2014, even if that means a Sutil/Bianchi pairing (especially in a scenario where Ferrari replace Mercedes as FI's engine supplier)?

Sutil is fast but for how long? He is 30 and will be rusty the first two or three races. I expect him to outscore PDR just as I would of Bianchi. PDR has a lot of pressure to really preform this year.

Gonna be an interesting year for SFI.

Ahh right, fair enough. Still think he deserved the seat more than Bianchi tho. He's got tallent and deserves to be in F1 despite his little...incident with the Lotus bloke.
