I'd like to attend the Goodwood FoS next year but having a tough time deciding on where to stay. Coming from the US, I really don't want to camp, so my options are traditional hotels or B&B's.

Looks like Snoozebox was there last year but they don't have anything on their web-site for this year. I might be up for that as I'd either be by myself or with one other.

It would also be nice to run into some celebrities, but I suspect the hotels where they will be staying have been booked far in advance.

Thus, any tips on accommodations, sightings, hot spots would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!!

Ok, preferably a place that publishes rates online and I can book online as well.

What is GPD?

You're asking in the off-season when a lot of the members go elsewhere. There's no use bumping the thread like that.

Hey I appreciate your candid feedback, but surely I can't be the only one planning trips for 2013 in the off-season?

I figured this forum would have the most knowledge with regards to attending events like Goodwood FoS, but apparently there's some unwritten rule about bumping posts in the off-season that I was not aware of.

So I apologize and mods, please feel free to close this thread as it obviously isn't going anywhere due to lack of forum participants.

No rule against it, but Tufty has a point - bump the thread during testing or car launches, more people will be about then.

Yes, we have a swear filter now. No, it doesn't change coffin to 'place of rest'.

If you want to meet celebrities I'd suggest hanging about outside the door which links the VIP paddock to the 'pit' area where all the cars are parked between runs. It's basically a gate in a fairly high brick wall right next to the pits.

I was waiting around there in 2010 trying to get Mark Webber to sign a Red Bull front wing end plate I'd just bought. I didn't succeed as I just missed him but in the hour or so I sat there relaxing in the sun about a dosen celebs walked past me in and out of the gate. Adrian Newey, Nico Rosberg, Jake Humphrey, Sir Jackie Stewart, Simon Cowell (+missus) and man who I think was Colin Chapman's son. Plus a couple more I didn't recognise or can't remember.

Hope this is vaguely useful.

Thanks Banana Man, that little bit of info is very helpful, and I've taken note!

Dear Mod, I know endless bumps are annoying (this ain't my first forum rodeo) and my intention was not to keep bumping daily until somebody responded. In fact, I find the mindless off-topic banter and snarky comments more annoying than anything, but c'est la vie. I'll just crawl back into my hole now, thanks.

Stay as close as possible and book as soon as you can, a nice B&B is always great and easy to find places to eat. Personally I would stay a day earlier.

Traffic can be a nightmare even if you get a taxi.
