Despite there only being 2 points difference in the final standings between the two, I believe Hamilton firmly put Button in the shade this year. The points gap would have been upward of 100 points had almost certain wins been taken in Singapore and Abu Dhabi, and likely wins in Brazil and Barcelona.
Whilst Hamilton was constantly putting his Mclaren on the front row and carrying the team ( Canada and Valencia before Maldonado) Button was floundering. I also count the score between them on track in terms of overtaking each other, throughout the 3 years as 8-4 Hamilton. Overall it was Hamilton who won 2-1 in terms of seasons. Jenson won the total points but I view that as irrelevant as no two seasons are the same. Hamilton achieved 9 (10) poles (Spain) compared to Buttons 1. Hamilton, despite the numerous failures etc still won the wins 10-8, it also must be remembered that in Brazil Hamilton being taken out of the lead gave Button the win. I think Button is an excellent driver, probably the fifth best currently. however, I think Hamilton did in fact destroy him contrary to most people's beliefs that it was close.

I would have liked to point out that Button was leading Hamilton by over 40 seconds (and overtook him on track) when the safety car came out in Brazil but I feel that this thread should be nipped in the bud immediately. Button scored more points when they were team mates and finished an average 4th in the championship, Hamilton scored less points and finished an average of 4.33 in the championship. Points and championships (or finishing position) is all that matters and Button beat Hamilton.

I like the way all the stats that reflect Lewis in a good light are allowed but button beating Lewis on points overall isn't hehehehehehehe

Hamilton truly annihilated Button
Yes he did. And Usain Bolt should enter the marathon, as he is clearly the fastest man on two legs...

Can this thread end now please... There is a Hamilton button McLaren uberthread put it there or lock and get rid please... Oh and i like both but brazil button was well ahead before safety car, and you counted all points and incidents with Hamilton but counted none of buttons also Hamilton 2011 was abysmal his head wasn't in it which indicates a lack of mental toughness my view button is a more rounded driver very smooth very easy on the car, Hamilton has a lot more raw pace and drags the car around..
