I mean...not to be pedantic but...those are all definitions of sarkY, not sark, and as I said, pretty sure they don't mean the same thing.

Sincerely, Your Pedantic Captain of Island & Undershirt

The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring...

Sarcastic - Sarky - Sark.

Now that wasn't so hard to understand was it? I've never seen anyone who speaks English in my life who doesn't get what sarky mean in such a context but oh well.

Well you called me Captain Sark, and I assumed you meant SNARK (a colloquialism relating to sarcasm, or an allusive person), but since I'm not a know-it-all poster I figured I ought to look it up just in case. When I did, all the definitions available referenced an island I know of, and undershirts. I don't know why you'd call me Captain Undershirt....maybe thats a "thing" wherever you are. So you see, I was simply seeking clarification on the term Sark as it doesn't actually fit with the context of the conversation, or sarkY, which means something else entirely (based on the internet resources available to me). You always accuse me of being hard on people for not knowing everything, like the FIA rule book, and here you are being mean to me for just asking what a word means. :(

Well now you know how it feels when the boot is on the other foot Ashley. Sometimes not everyone knows everything about something. You have to be a little more accepting of those whose knowledge of things like the rule book isn't as strong as some.

Lets move on. :)

A role which wouldn't lead to me being fired as soon as I've shown my skills, which sadly rules out most of the OP's list. I'd choose being part of the engineering and design team back at the factory, most preferrably in the control system department.

I voted for race engineer because it's closest to what I would pursuit.

Should "Helmut Marko" be considered a role unto itself? I imagine that's a pretty good role.

Well no you aren't since I never used the word "snarky" nor did I mean the word "sarky" in the context in which you assumed it was.

You used the work sark, which according to the rest of the internet's resources, means an island or an undershirt, not sarcasm. So either you called me Captain Island/Undershirt, or you used the word in error. ;)

Of course I would love to drive those cars but any job that go me close to the sport would do. The guy who flips burgers and chops salad in the RBR energy station would suit me fine.

Would that be the same as "grid girl selector?"

If so I'd like that option if it were available, auditioning would seem like a dream come true.

But I still think it would hard not to select F1 chief.... you get the money, the clout, a lot of headaches... but the chance to return GPs to circuits that I think should still be on the calender is just to appealing to pass up.

Which part is nope? The part where you called me Captain Sark, or the part where sark is an island or undershirt? I'm really leaning toward he island bit, given the capitalization. I'm not sure islands typically have captains though...but I'll take it, cause Whitman made captains cool.

Can I just clear up the 'sarky' argument because it is driving me nuts.

'Sarky' is not officially part of the English language nor a term used in every English-speaking country. It is specifically part of British English. So as ashley is from and lives in the US I can understand her not knowing it. I'm Australian and I've never heard the word nor is it in any Australian dictionary.

Sarky the adjective does not have an associated noun - ie sark.

Sark is indeed defined as either the Island referred to or an undershirt. I think the Island already has its own government and chief so probably being the Captain of that isn't possible and every time I think of "Captain Undershirt" it conjures up visions of Basil Fawlty.

I think most people agree that at a certain age being a race driver is the most exciting and demanding role you might choose, but I think that any hardcore fan would accept any task related with the show, specially those implying travelling all over the world.

Somebody say "jello wrestling"?

Quote:
In the midst of the word he was trying to say,
In the midst of his laughter and glee,
He had softly and suddenly vanished away---
For the Snark *was* a Boojum, you see.

OK, that was hilarious, but in reality I'd wish to be a mechanic, turning the wrenches.

I think he has to hand out the water as well and make sure the room is set up properly. Think you could handle that as well? ;)

I'd choose Team Principal. Challenging, complex, varied and hectic.

Pit Crew member.
Oh how I'd love to change a tyre or wing on a F1 Car or put on those rubber gloves to play with the KERS

I actually tried getting into the American Open wheel feeder series and European series I only ever got an email reply from a team owner saying that it was too expensive for him to get me out to europe yet he wished me luck, but I actually got a call back from two of the team owners here in the US. One of which was serious about getting me out there only with one catch: I had to pay for traveling expenses myself. I would have done it if it wouldn't have been so expensive if some races aren't weeks and months apart. So you'd have to return home and come back several times a year. In return the team would give me mechanic and pit crew training & also contacts and opportunity in higher leagues that they are also taking part in.
