... whether you believe they will happen or not. Personally:

1. Final between Button, Alonso and Kimi, for 2 reasons - bored of Vettel winning, and because it would be an interesting fight.

2. Webber to beat Vettel, just to see Marko (and others) explode with shock.

3. Di Resta and Chilton perform better than expected.

4. Mclaren Constructors Champions, because they havent been for way too long.

5. Bottas to beat Maldonado.

6. Kobayashi and Senna to prove elsewhere they deserve a seat in F1.

Also, to happen beyond 2013:

1. Calendar consisting of races that are actually exciting, not ones just to keep Bernie happy and full with money.

2. Someone to run F1 who cares about F1 the spectacle, not money.

Compared to a return to real tyres, everything else is just icing.

No one team or driver dominating and a McLaren WCC would be nice too though.

Fantasyland:

1. The tracks that have consistently provided the best racing over the years.
2. Teams and drivers to speak honestly and openly, not spin everything or have underlying agendas.
3. More freedom in the regulations so there is more variation between the machinery.
4. Michael Schumacher to make another comeback and be as good as he was in the first part of his career.
5. 3 wet races per year. I know wet races can be a lottery, but it's the same for everyone and beyond the entertainment value I find they provide an interesting insight into the car, team and driver performances. Note that I am not endorsing Ecclestone's sprinkler idea.

Reality:
1. Agree completely with Balibari on the tyres. Even if they just stuck to the same tyre type for a couple of years so we didn't have the adaptation period at the start that makes the beginning so much of a lottery.
2. Spa, Suzuka, Canada, Interlagos and Silverstone to remain on the calendar and an African GP.
3. A level of competition similar to what we saw in 2012 between teams and drivers.
4. That the 2014 regulations provide for a greater level of innovation and shift the focus away from nearly entirely aero.
5. Hulkenberg to get a top drive so we can see if he's truly capable and if he is, so he has the opportunity to add another competitive driver into the mix at the front.

Given how Mercedes sidetracked Michael, I want their cars to suck aszs.

Would love for DRS and KERS to be banned.

Testing to be allowed.

 Less durable tyres! By the end of the season people were very easily doing one stops I would like to see tyres that would make a minimum of two stops a necessity.

No dominance by any one team or driver. I'd also like races that are influenced by, but not entirely dependent on, a driver's ability to manage tyres. And a Lewis victory or two.

On the top of my mind:

Tires lasting longer. Drivers should be able to push the car to it's limits not having to worry about the tires. But preferably still 2 pitstops.
DRS and KERS banned.
Massa's good form continuing.
Webber beating Vettel more frequently.
Hamilton getting wins and podiums.
McLaren WCC.
A non RBR-driver WDC. Preferably Hamilton (not so likely) Alonso, Kimi.
Grosjean not making silly mistakes and showing he is in F1 to stay. Hope to see a win.
Turkey GP.

A further narrowing of the gaps between the field, basically.

The rules have been the same for a couple of years now, there's no excuse for the teams getting on top of the regulations. I'd like to see Mercedes and Force India make a jump to start challenging for wins, and as Sutton says, the backmarkers to at least be good enough for the odd 9th/10th place finish.

Oh, and I'm hoping Adrian Newey has a bad winter and forgets how to draw aero...

Faster Cars, not the rule restricted things of today (big turbos, less restrictions on aero/mechanical parts)
Better tracks and more unforgiving ones, not supermarket car parks like some are now.
More teams
More young driver tests
F1 drivers being allowed to compete in other disciplines like yesteryear

and Vettel to win everything

The Vettel/ Alonso/ Hamilton / Kimi battle to continue for a few years yet
Someone better in the second Red Bull

Kobayashi in a good team
More engine suppliers
KERS/ DRS/ Tyres situation to remain the same
Tracks to alternate so we get more venues hosting races.

tyre regulations change, every team can use the compounds they like, Qualyfing tyres must not be used at the start. more sets of tyres available at FPs

2013:

I want to see Grosjean win the f**cking title this year just because.

Probably won't happen

Alonso for WDC ( win it with 3 points ahead of Vettel :D)

if not,

I want to see Webber get his fairy cakes together and possibly win the title

Maybe in 2014, but I wanna see Mercedes design and build a better car than McLaren this year and see Lewis laugh his donkey off

I would f**cking love, to see Button vs Perez in Mclaren 2007 fashion

I would also love, to see Maldonado Vs Bottas in Mclaren 2007 fashion

I would f**king love to see the Vettel-on-Alonso 2011 Monza/ Alonso-on-Vettel 2012 overtake move again - I hope
that move becomes a Monza tradition :D

Beyond 2013:

Maldonado WDC
Grosjean WDC

Would like to 7~8 top teams fighting for the title instead of the usual 3 ( RBR, Ferrari ,Mclaren)

New, but competitive teams

Better F1 merchandise ( better shirt designs etc ), i wanna wear F1 shirts but they are too ugly.

Schumacher return for the third time - lol joking

For 2013 :
Bruno, Koba, and Petrov prove they belong in F1 by dominating another competitive series which has provided F1 with drivers before.
Testing!!!!!!!!!
Do something with like either or situation with either refuelling or better tires. I want one of them to come back!

Beyond :
No Bernie
No politics in the sport.
No KERS & DRS
Less limited development.
Engine development.

Post subject:  Re: What would you like to see happen in 2013 and/or beyond?

Less mechanical grip. The end of last season showed us an interesting dynamic when drivers were sliding around, unable to get their tires immediately up to temperature. Having less grippy tires gave us something comparable to wet weather races with plenty of room for outstanding car control and even multiple lines to take. For the longest time people kept demanding less aero grip and more mechanical for improved show but that's not really the dynamic when you race on a wet track.

Author:  ATM2 [ Sat Feb 02, 2013 11:12 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: What would you like to see happen in 2013 and/or beyond?

More mechanical failures. This durability is really getting to be annoying. Back in the old days there was real drama when the leader's engine went up in smoke...nowadays, nothing, a KERS failure is all we get.

Indeed, less mechanical grip. Sliding, tete-a-queue, much more wheelspin at starts.
On that note, finally finding a position for the exhausts where gas won't interfere with aerodynamics. Instead, allow permanent engine development. Too much money goes into aerodynamics nowadays, the solutions aren't radical anymore (ok, except double diffuser, but that's already 4 years away), maybe the innovation areas are too limited, methinks. Remember active suspension 1992, separate braking 1998...now those were radical. Today, radical means only Coanda effect, or a DDRS, or vanity plate...give the engineers the possibility of really designing something which will take 2 seconds off one lap, not only 0.15723465 secs....

More engine producers. With 2014, only 3 producers are confirmed. That's low. Really low. Where's the variety?

Last but not least, Button&Macca WCC&WDC. And, if possible, a mediocre RedBull, somewhere around 10-12th position, so I can see Vettel fight his way up with inferior machinery.

-Kobayashi back in f1 and make his way to a top team.
-Ground effect cars
-One shot meaning on lap qualifying, I feel that would make for a better race as fast guys make the occasional mistake and end up toward the mid to rear field while slow guys have the occasional great lap and end up with a chance of podium. I think the championship would be more interesting and I could care less about watching more qualifying if I could see a better ace. Plus the cameras could focus of a single car for there qualifying and drivers would be forced to push due to one shot.
-refueling is back
-start race with qualifying fuel load
-massively wide rear tyres
-Hamilton wins another title and with Mercedes
-McLaren actually realize they are the reason they lose races and championship due to awful pit stop and awful strategy.
-vettel goes up against Hamilton or Alonso in same car and gets destroyed.
-USGP night race.

As far as I remember, those one-shot quali sessions were boring as hell. When they introduced the 3-segment qualify format, I remember it was as if I got the best Christmas gift ever, the sessions were actually interesting.

If any, I would impose a rule to avoid 3rd segment qualifiers sitting in the paddock all session - maybe an extra-set of tires, or a little 5-places demotion, unless they can prove they were forced by a technical failure not to do one single lap...or something...anyway, you know what I mean, shameful to qualify in the top 10 and not even take one shot in improving.

On that note, I wish to congratulate renowned and very successful turbo-engine manufacturers such as BMW, Honda, Porsche, for jumping to opportunity and developing new engines for 2013. I congratulate their courage and I wish all the best into their future F1 ventures.

What decides who qualifies where when they don't set a lap in Q3 (or Q2 or Q1 for that matter)?

On the other hand it was very interesting seeing Kimi go from 11th to almost win at Bahrain. If you give them all extra tyres it might make the races less interesting from that point of view.

Post subject:  Re: What would you like to see happen in 2013 and/or beyond?

I guess the results of the previous race count into establishing the grid, if really nobody makes a flying lap. Although I can't remember this happening anytime in the last 10+ years.

The extra-set of tires was thought only as a quali set, for the 3rd and final session sector. Use it to establish a time, and not having the excuse of "boo-hoo, I'm sitting all alone in the pits, 'cause I don't have enough tires for tomorrow". You don't use this extra-set in the 3rd stage of quali, you lose it anyway, confiscated either you use it or not, you can't use it in the race.

Anyway, the discussion has been raised several times last year, when , out of 10 qualified guys, only 6-7 did flying laps.

For 2013:

1. Hamilton to win in Canada because I will be there.

2. Force India to win a race. They deserve it like no other. Will be hard without Hulkenberg though.

3. Hulkenberg to win in Brazil.

4. Kimi to win WDC.

5. As many different winners as we had last year.

6. Steward rulings that are consistent.

7. Sutil to get his seat back. Him and Kobayashi are the only drivers on the market that could win a race IMO.

8. Sauber to compete at an even level with the big 3(4) consistently throughout the year.

9. The WDC decided in the final race.

10. Marussia and Caterham to both score at least 1 point.

For Beyond:

1. Return of limited testing. Say three times a year.

2. Return of in race refueling.

3. The end of the Bernie era.

4. Scorpion racing to get a point in their first or second season.

5. Hulkenberg to get a drive at a top team.

6. A good source to stream races from. I will pay you F1.

7. Canada to remain on the calender

8. Turkey to return to the calender.

9. Kobayashi to replace Grosjean and win WDC after Kimi returns to Ferrari.

10. Kubica to return and win WDC....twice
