Not to use at a race weekend, there's so many people on the 3G network it's overloaded and you can't even open a simple web page

I prefer using the f1 hub on sky go for iPad.

I have never bought the official timing app and this is partly down to the cost, as for an app £23.99 is a hefty price tag. What they should do is give a weekend free to see if you like the app and any benefits it may bring before splashing out the money fro a potentially rubbish app.

I bought it, won't be buying again next season. An iPad app with simply a live stream would be awesome but extremely unlikely to happen. There's that coolish 3d map but it's not that useful. I'd roll with the desktop timing considering the price of the app

Bought it, for the second year. Were I not already paying through the nose for Sky the price would probably stop me, and I'd just use a laptop or something instead.

It was £17.99 but that expired at New Year :(

I have the android app. Love it. I have no problems with paging or anything - but maybe the android is better. Anyway, I bought it before the price went up too, but it is worth the 5 extra in any case for me - I am a live timing junkie.

24 quid?! F1 is so out of touch with it's fanbase, it's quite frankly ridiculous. Why not stick it on itunes for a fiver so more people buy it?

Great App
Insane Price
it should have a maximum price within the 5-10$ range. Especially when there's similar apps for others sports that are just as good and cheaper if not free.

I would only consider buying this if I had absolutely nothing else to spend money on.

It's an absolutely crazy price, I really don't know what the logic behind it is. It's so out of sync with what people expect to pay for an app, especially an app that complements something they may well be paying for on a monthly basis anyway. And it only lasts one season and you have to pay again, and it's even more money :?

Not worth it IMO.

I had the 2010 one, which I manually hacked around with to make work for 2011 (its the same app, and they charge you again for it!!). Never used it much TBH as the Sky stuff was better.

Plus you can stream the driver tracker from the BBC for every race, so it makes the app pointless (and yes - the BBC stream works on the iPad)

Not worth it. I bought the 2012 version and used it few times and then just quit using it. The timing is always delayed and I found it difficult to watch the race on tv and follow the timing app at the same time.

Are we talking about the same app?

I bought the iphone 2011 app and the 2012 app and especially the last one made my day.
What I saw on TV actually came a close second after what I saw on the app.

Used it every race and had a lot of fun with it. No issues here!

The price could be lower though, it's expensive.

The app isnt accurate. It picks up GPS points every 5 or so seconds. If it misses a GPS point or cant pick it up quick enough, it guesses. So it's guessing that the car may be at point X when it may actually be slightly behind that.

In comparison, the live driver tracker on TV is live as its coming direct from the world feed servers at the track. The app however goes through a central server network first.

That and the TV tracker is at no extra cost.

23.99 for an app you only use twenty times a year is pathetic. Should be no more than £5 a year.

Not worth 23.99. If it were like 4 pounds it'd be worth it, but 24 is too much.

I had an android based app that did a reasonable job and was free. The sector times were a little behind the live feed, but for free it did a really good job. I'm sure it was named something obvious and plain like "F1 live stream" or "f1 live timing". Definitely something like that.

Im pretty sure its actually gone up in prince since last year. The 2012 version was $30 AU and this year its $35.
Used last years version and i was disapointed, actually got my money refunded. Save your money and get live timing off the internet.

NOT Worth it. F1 makes enough damn money already and this is just another way for Bernie to further line his pockets with out dollars. The app itself is a fantastic but the price is absurd and there are other ways to get the same exact thing legally for free. ;)

Pricing is absolutely obscene.

Until 2011 there was a free version that just had the timings, as you can get for free on the Formula1.com website (albeit not via an iPhone/iPad), but without any of the graphics. That was fine and was all I wanted. Then they scrapped it and just kept the ridiculously expensive one.

I might pay a couple of quid for it tops, but I only want the timings and could get that for free by firing up my laptop. Just so user-unfriendly to deny us freedom of same services across different devices.

Useful but ridiculous pricing. I won't buy it for €30.
I can follow live timing on the website too. However there's also some added value in the app with the presence of live tire information. If I'm not mistaken this info can't be found on the website?

The pricing of the app is ridiculous. As good as it may be its not worth that amount of money. For those of you saying about now web based live timing for the iPad try a browser from the app stire that supports flash (puffin for example) the only thing stopping an iPad viewing the official live timing is its inability to display flash content.

Bought it once and it was a waste of money! if your going to a race id recommend you get Kangaroo tv (or whatever its called now) its more money than the app but gives you a much better race day and qually experience at the track (if thats what you wanted it for) if its just for general use then if your on sky you have sky go so no need for that app at all and if not then get the tv catch up app it only shows free view channels but if its a live bbc race then you can watch it on there for free! :)
