I'm on a roll here, I'd also missed confirmation of Leimer at Racing, only noticed it now that Leal is confirmed alongside him!

I've added the new drivers from the past couple of weeks. Both grids are really taking shape. GP2 need another 10 drivers - both iSports, both Caterhams, both Tridents, both Hilmers, a Lazarus and an MP. GP3 needs another 14 - 2 ARTs, a Carlin, 2 Jenzers, all 3 Manors, 2 Status', all 3 Atechs and a Trident.

Wow Koiranen gets Vainio and Korjus 8O

I know, Korjus I can understand, but Vainio defecting to a new team caught me off guard.

No shame in that though, is there?

Hope James can shine this year and take the title. Potentially 5 Brits in F1 in 2014?

Conor Daly just won a winter series at India and has been picked up by The KINC marketing group. Only 1 week left before testing and wonder if Conor Daly gets retained by Lotus ART GP3.

I'm going to follow Koiranen with excitement this year - Vainio seems like a great talent working his way up (the problem is that he appears to be low on money), and Korjus has also shown some promise.

Calado had less experience than Bottas, whilst in GP2 he was a rookie whilst Chilton was in his third season i believe?

Correct.

It seems to be an ongoing issue with the perspective some people have of drivers at this level - they look solely at the results and don't take into consideration the relative experience of the drivers in question.

Let's hope he can keep his foot in the door. According to an article I read recently that said he's the only American right now who has a super license.

BIB: That's Alex Rossi.

I'm not so sure what to make of Conor. I know he's highly rated in the States, but from watching his European exploits I'd say he was fairly solid but not an outstanding prospect. I kind of expect more of a future star than 1 reverse grid win in 2 years of GP3.

True, although he isn't exactly woeful either. I'm interested to see what he can do in future.

I think he's pretty darn good, but you have to consider who his teammates were last year in Vainio and Abt. They all were pretty competitive last year and I think Conor has improved consistency wise as well. His overtaking skills are quite good as well and I think he can most definately make that step to F1. I hope he and Rossi does because I would love to see competitive American drivers back in F1.

He's not even close to woeful.

A top American driver in the sport would be good for it in general i think.

Glad to see Korjus getting a drive in GP3, we will now be able to see his tallents on Sky. Not sure if it's a step up from FR3.5 but hopefully he can make an impact. Will hope to see more from Vaino and Calado too.

Young drivers are crucial to F1 so its always good to see such talented grids in lower series. I will be watching GP3 with interest this year especially.

Huge surprise to see iSport leave, but I heard that one earlier. It's a shame, but the finances dictate everything.

I'll leave them on the list until we know who either buys them, or that they won't be entering under any ownership.

It's a shame the GP2 site hasn't updated the teams' liveries yet: ART have had a huge overhaul - and with Calado and Abt running different sponsors the cars are easy to tell apart - and Carlin, having gotten rid of the Marussia colours, are running gold with Nasr's car and red with Palmer's along with the Carlin blue.

Any idea if Rossi will be testing for Caterham?

Post subject:  Re: GP2 & GP3 2013

There's a list of drivers for various test days on the GP2 site. Not sure if they show anyone in advance, I have to admit I'm ignoring testing this year pretty much across the board. The impression I got, however, was that Ma Quing Ha and Sergio Canamasas were testing for Caterham and basically entering into a shootout for the seat alongside Rossi, but don't quote me on that.

Post subject:  Re: GP2 & GP3 2013

Added Venturini into Trident's GP3 line up. Just seven drivers left to confirm in the GP3 cars and nine in GP2 along with the awaited replacement of iSport's entry. Early rumours, not something I think is likely to happen, is that Status will take over their grid slot due to a contractual connection with iSport for testing days for the best Status driver.

Would like to see Felipe Nasr have a good year. Was very impressive running at the 24 hours of Daytona. What with the experience he has now he should have a strong showing in 2013.

Post subject:  Re: GP2 & GP3 2013

If Nasr doesn't perform well this year he's finished, I reckon. He's been there long enough to know the ropes, and drivers like Calado and Abt won't sit about for years in the category.
