World Rally Championship manufacturers have reacted angrily to the timing and tracking issues that caused major confusion on day one of the Monte Carlo season-opener.

Spanish firm Sistemas Integrales de Telecomunicacion (SIT) replaced the WRC's long-standing timing and tracking provider Stage One Technology for this year, but immediately hit problems.

There were no split times on any of Wednesday's four stages, and incorrect results were listed for the afternoon - when Thierry Neuville was shown as the rally leader instead of Sebastien Loeb in a jumbled top 10.

SS16 has been stopped, further news when available.

Turini very treacherous with some cars top speed on straights 30km/h

next stage is a re-run of the col @ 21:23 CET

with the final stage a re-run of this afternoons @ 22:06 CET

anything could happen if the drivers aren't careful.

SS14 and 15 was carnage too with Novikov, Latvala & Hanninen out...

Its a shame to see that Latvala is still crashing out of rallys, also that we never got to see Loeb and Ogier go head to head against one another over a season, we had team orders in 2011 and of course Loeb is semi retired now.

I know its early days but Ogier is already looking like a firm favourite for the WRC

from autosport...

"Sebastien Loeb clinched his seventh Monte Carlo Rally victory early as the final two stages of the 2013 event were cancelled on safety grounds.

Heavy rain had moved into the previously icy and snowy region as the cars were in the mid-evening service, and as the worsening conditions prompted hordes of spectators to leave the stages, local roads became badly congested.

The situation ultimately reached the point where the organisers felt compelled to cancel stages 17 and 18 as the level of traffic would have made it impossible to put their action plan into place in the event of an incident.

Results will therefore be taken from the end of SS16, with Loeb winning for Citroen ahead of Volkswagen's Sebastien Ogier.

The other two works Citroens of Dani Sordo and Mikko Hirvonen finished third and fourth."

I wonder if Loeb will rethink his decision. :D

I'm sure he won't, of course. Great to see the VW's showing pace, and Novikov was doing very well, but I have to feel for him since he would've been leading the Ford factory effort if they had stuck around.
