According to MotorsportTotal.com James Allison is on his way from Lotus to either McLaren or Mercedes (of course).http://www.motorsport-total.com/f1/news/2013/01/Allison_vor_dem_Abschied_von_Lotus_13012408.html

This looks like McLaren's back-up plan if Paddy Lowe jumps ship - or Merc's if he doesn't!

Mind you, Sport Bild and Eddie Jordan haven't reported it so it can't be true.

Would be a big blow for Lotus, Allison is highly regarded in the paddock.

At this rate Domenicalli and Horner will be swapping places, or both going to Merc, Rob Smedley will be the Pirelli test driver and Martin Whitmarsh/Charlie Whiting will be swapping roles.

It sure is musical chairs time in the F1 world.

Allison would definitely be a loss to Lotus.

If he does go to Mercedes we can only assume Mercedes' plan is to win by employing all the F1 engineers so none of the other teams can design a car to compete against them in 2014.

Does any one know how much Newey gets paid at Red Bull? At this rate surely a top designer will be paid more than a top driver.

8mill a year I think.

Do you think if I sent one of my kids drawings in Crayon of a Red Bull to Merc they would hire her?

My younger brother once sent his own drawing of a space probe/sputnik replica to NASA, still to this day we don't know what the probe was supposed to do, but it was called the 'Roman'. NASA actually wrote back thanking him for his efforts and apologising for not being able to pursue his project at the time!

Sending drawings to F1 teams reminded me of this.

Better to photocopy said drawing and flog it to 'em - you don't sell the goose that lays the golden eggs

Can we see the drawing? Then we can debate who would drive it better.

But Lewis is worth a few tenths over a drawing's ultimate pace.

He can out drive the picture and put it places it's not meant to be.

Maybe the cooker instead of the fridge.

Helmut Marko says the drawing is too political, and that Seb doesn't look at the drawing on the internet.

Also, Fernando is leaving the first test of the drawing to Felipe and Pedro. He's spending that time with his gf instead, who is the width as the paper the drawing is on.

Seems like these days everyone are going to Mercedes. I reckon it'll either be a humongous disaster or a great success.

Felipe was asked to move his drawing from the fridge to make room for Fernando to put up this new drawing.

Marussia can't afford crayons so they've had to draw their 2013 car with a stick in some sand...

Michael couldn't see the drawing, and asked for a stronger lens prescription. Nobody had the heart to tell him he won't be getting his own drawing this year.

Di Resta's drawing was deemed average and forgettable.

When asked about James Allison joining Mercedes, Toto Wolff refused to be drawn but said he was sharpening his pencil for a battle with McLaren over Paddy Lowe.

Whoever draws the best drawing wins Paddy Lowe?
