Lotus posted an image of Kimi checking out the car on their Facebook page :

Didn't the MP4/28A's sneak peek thread a few days back have a similar shark fin on the front? Maybe this is going to be the next big(small?) thing to be adopted by the teams.

It's nothing new guys, this is shot from the cockpit and that little "fin" is a deflector in the event a car slides over the front of a car kind of like Liuzzi and Schumacher's crash in Abu Dhabi 2010. From scarbs' blog:

You mean like this? :

I don't think that puny fin would do anything to deflect a 650 kg+ car.

It's probably for something entirely different.

Not when there's a big finn calling the shots.

That little thing is going to be the first thing to break if the car lands on it....

What is the diagram showing?
I remember people saying in 1996 Ferrari got the new head protection regulations wrong, but I can not remember how exactly? I know theirs was much larger than most other teams as they interpreted it wrong?

The diagram is showing that if a car flipped over, the part within the dotted lines would be cocooned by the higher structures at each end of the dotted line. Atleast, that's what I interpreted it as.
But that nose fin would likely crumple if a car flipped.

Nothing new, most of the cars already have a little fin on the front anyway.

That's either a sensor or the radio antenna.

the front one is something like that, we mean the one nearer the driver, which looks like an aerial to me.
