Interestingly if Lotus were going for a triadic colour scheme, they are half right, however the black would need replacing with blue.

if it were blue red and gold . it would be disgusting. black, red and gold is gorgeous

Well it'd really come down to how that was applied. Take the current livery. If the car was red with a yellow/gold and black 'streaks' it wouldn't look too bad. It looks bad right now because the red has litterally been slapped on the car with little thought as to how it contrasts next to the gold. If the car was white it'd probably go quite nicely.

As for the blue, red and gold/yellow, if applied correctly it could actually look perfectly fine. This is a bit of a fairy cakes example but hopefully you'll see what I mean:

Could've used your signature occupier as a good example. Alonso's helmet is a good mix of red blue and yellow. :)

Ahh yeah

Just mocked the Lotus up in a light blue:

It'd be nicer if they ditched the fake/poorly done gold and replace it with either a real gold, or yellow.

Oh now that is one sexy bitch. Send it to Lotus, tell them to change their car colours right now. I like the black red and gold, but that is a gorgeous combo. RickM, send it to Lotus, now.

see that to me already looks better because your eyes aren't getting hit by a bright red and the dark black in one hit.

That blue looks cool. You should email it them. But I guess it's red because they want Honeywell

I admit that the more subtle red is nicer than the bright red. I think we should try it with the blue bits still, but swap the gold for pink. That'd be sexy.

I think it's better they added a red and gold strip to the main front wing element. It's easier to see the different upgrades that they bring to the car. With the glossy black front wing last time, it was so hard to see all the little elements and the upgrades.

RickM, could you please start work for the Lotus Livery department and sort them out? As much as I love the new car, your current works are very nice :)
Or go to Sauber and sort that sh*t out.

What's the story with these images?

Is the top photo the launch car and the bottom photo the real car?
Or is that a comparison between the E20 and E21?

The bottom car looks badass.

both are supposed to be the e21
bottom is from the official lotus press-mailing or so - hence are studio-shots or renderings
top car is the actual launch car from the presentation

main differences are the drd on the studio-shot which wasn't present at the presentation model - also different front-wing and most notably the wing-enclosure atop the sidepods

don't know what's the real deal - could also be just 2 different track-packages ... as a lot guys (and at least one lady) stated earlier on - a lot can and will change till FP1 in oz anyway...

didn't they run into legal problems with that all black-n-gold livery back when the team was still named renault-lotus f1? ... i recall french authorities claiming the livery did ressemble the JPS-livery too much and was therefor against the law (somehow skirting the ban on tobacco-ads)...

Yup, thats why the livery isnt actually black and gold, its black and very, very light yellow with a two-tone effect to make it seem slightly more gold up close.

Yes, but I still like it. All other additional colors like red, blue, green are awful.

I was hoping to see Honeywell sponsor Lotus but it looks like it might not happen. Anyways, I think they're in a better place financially than last year

I wonder if they would make a car totally black... nothing written on it... May be just car number written in dark red... But i would like to see a pure black car!!!! no sponsors on it!!!!

It'd be nicer if they ditched the fake/poorly done gold and replace it with either a real gold, or yellow.

sorry for being pedantic, but didn't you say they'd have to replace black with blue, not red? any chance of a mock up of that?

Unfortunately doing the whole car would be outside my photoshop skills - I only really use it for web development. Maybe someone else here can give it a go?

If there was a decent 3d model it may be a bit easier - the current photos are a bit dark though especially around the tires.
