red or other colour , its very good that there is a change. and i dont want any team to cover their noses . i already got used to it and it reminds me of a magnificent season which was preceded by a catastrophically boring 2011

wasn't there a trend towards shorter fins below the rear wing at the end of last season?

I don't like the red at the top of the engine cover, other than that though I think it's gorgeous.
Seriously, I really like it!

Is it just me or did anyone else think that 'Burn' would have more of a presence on the car, i know there are the new red bits which are from burn but thought it would have been on the engine cover

Ugly. Replace black with white and it is HRT 2011.

I heard something about Total supplying fluids to all Renault-powered cars, while Shell supplies Ferrari-powered cars and Mobil1 supplies Mercedes-powered cars. I don't think it's a true sponsor thing. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Unless I missed this before, but it looks like there's some other news out of Lotus, in that Davide Valsecchi will be the team's 3rd driver.

I think I like that, he makes an interesting Plan B if the "Bad" RoGro shows up again. (Though the more I have watched the 2012 races a second time, the more I believe bringing him back is a good risk as he showed a lot that impressed me when he was the "Good" RoGro... that if the rough spots can be polished, he has some real potential versus going with a 'safer' option who might not have as much upside.)

One thing that I noticed is that "Lotus" is again on the rear wings, I got the impression when the Burn deal was announced, that it would occupy that spot. But then again, there's been so many things written and read over the last few months that I could have been mistaken.

I like it, the red adds a nice touch to it. But the gold should be more gold and not beige.

Also I do not like these gigantic front wings, looks bad and ruins too many tires!

Looks like they will push on with the passive DRS model... I hope they can get it to work, could prove huge.

Having seen it properly...

F.U.G.L.Y.

The colour scheme is just a complete mess. It's like someone saw a McLaren half way through drawing it and got confused.

Just me that thinks the new scheme is gorgeous then...

The black and beige was not only clichéd but just looked like they'd done a bad drawing of a JPS car...this looks likes someone actually designed it, and I love the red.

:D

Glad it's not just me. Personally I think it looks better with the red on there

As for the car itself, I don't normally pay too much attention to the official launches. The car they display rarely shows much resemblance to the one that starts the season.

I also don't think step noses are ugly :shhh:

Oooh now I think you've overstepped the mark :D

Actually I thought the stepped noses on the Lotus and Red Bull looked OK last year but some of the others were just awful. I think Mercedes (closely followed by Williams and Sauber) were the worst culprits.

That's last years car for a start, and the red just ruins the livery.

Don't agree, there's a number of differences:

front wing uses 4 elements outboard rather than 3
sidepod wing and way it mounts to sidepod
engine cover exhaust
actual exhausts

granted they wont have put everything on it yet but why would they bring out something totally different when last years car was very good

Only the front wing and nose cone appears to be the 2012 spec, the rest of the car is completely different. It will be completely different again come Oz.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the stepped nose gone come Australia; the way he says yet and he didn't see particularly confident in his answer.

I think we will see less stepped noses this year either way

Having given it thought now. This really might not be the car at all they were just after piblicity which they hat got. But if they have anything special on the car they don't want to give it away so early. So as others have said come testing / race time the car will prob look of different.

That's nothing new really, that's a trend that had been set into motion since Williams started it a season or two ago.
