Judging by the cloud of secrecy which red bull wants to maintain concerning their rear-end, it makes me wonder, whether Red Bull held back these updates in Jerez.

And if they did hold back all these updates which they have brought today in Barcelona (Day 3 - Final Test), I want to know whether 2 days are enough to test these many updates?

Red Bull reveals final update package pre-Melbourne

I think RB will be in killer shape again this year.... The toughest thing for Macca will be Hamilton and Button taking points from each other. I see Vettel staying dominant over Webb-o and keeping most of the top points to himself

According to rumors, isn't Webber supposed to shine this year due to the change in pirelli tyre structure and ebd's being banned? According to a few, this should be webbos' year.

Ask Webber who is considered to be the No. 1 driver in Red Bull and he accepts it is still Vettel.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner strives to downplay any tensions.

''They have spent a lot time racing each other and they have spent hundreds of hours together working on developing the car and I think they have a genuine respect for each other,'' Horner said. ''Sebastian knows in Mark he has a very genuine competitor, and Mark knows Sebastian has been the benchmark for the last couple of years. It's a healthy situation for the team. I think they now have more experience.''

Webber had considered a move with Ferrari before signing the 2013 contract this week.

Rather than running the risk of another fraught partnership there - with Alonso - he's willing to take his partnership with Vettel into a fifth year.

''I think no one would really have envisaged how long we have worked together, so that's probably been a bit of a surprise,'' Webber said. ''There are not many teammates staying together for that long in Formula One, but it's proved to be a successful partnership with both of us working very hard with the key technical members of the team. It's been a potent operation.

''We're still competitive when we hit the track, no question about it, especially in 2010 and this year. Last year there wasn't much racing between Sebastian and I, but in 2009, 2010 and this year, there have been some great battles.''

And it's good for Red Bull, which is 64 points ahead of Ferrari in the constructors' championship.

Vettel also prefers to be able to keep a close eye on Webber.

''I have the advantage in that he's in the same team so I can see what he's doing,'' the 25-year-old German said.

The 35-year-old Webber never plans to race for another team after committing to Red Bull.

''I've been hearing different rumors and reasons for a long time now,'' he said. ''At the end of the day I know everything that has been going on. You want to make sure your focus is clearly on driving the car and the guys that you're working with. It's important the team knows you're 100 percent with them, which, of course, I am.''

Just a question, what's the longest two teammates have been together in Formula 1?

They got on pretty well didn't they. I guess it also partly helps explain Coulthard's strong dislike of Schumacher.

I'm pretty sure they're the guys who stayed longest as team-mates. 96-01, 6 seasons. Rubens and Schuey come close, but I don't think anyone's done more.

This is totally unimportant, but I won a set of the Pirelli tire compound wristbands from RBR today :) I've been harassing Paul Hembery to send me some for months, so I was pretty psyched to be a random winner!

Interesting. I think Webber has been at RBR for 6 (7?) seasons but only 4 seasons with Vettel, it will be 5 seasons with Vettel after 2013.

How long do we think he'll stay at RB? it would take a drastic drop in form for RB to drop him. They could outlast Hakkinen/Coulthard's 6 seasons, they will equal it in 2014 (I don't believe any of the Vettel to Ferrari stuff).

Alan Jones on Webbo's future:

Quote:
Jones also believes Webber can continue on past 2013 despite constant speculation over when he might retire.

"How old's Schumacher now? 40-odd," Jones said.

"Mark's as fit, if not fitter, than any driver out there. It's all a mind game really. If he's got the drive and he's got the hunger? He's certainly got the speed and the fitness, so there's no reason he can't go on for quite a while yet."

Wow that must have been what Sebastion meant when he was talking to the press about the "Pirelli lottery " this year ? I'd be careful wearing those because I think he also said they degrade rather quickly compared to wrist bands from previous years .

He'll be fine as long as he keeps them within the correct operating window.

That's the grand prize. Its still on going. I kept getting these phone calls from a blocked number, it was incessant so after a couple of days I finally answered and it was a nice man from the AT&T RBR contest asking if I was interested in receiving a model car :) I was kinda bummed when I found Mark in the package instead of Sebastian, but its still quite nice.

Poor return for RBR after a perfect quali. 1st to 3rd and 2nd to 6th.

After Australia and Malaysia, RB has to control things inside the team otherwise this slow decay might affect them in the long run.

Poor old Webber and Fiesty little Seb...can't see them being team-mates in 2014.

I'm a Webber fan but if you're Red Bull Racing, imo you get rid of Webber for 2014 and bring in a less competitive (but still good) driver. It's an easy decision.

RBR should sign someone like Rosberg, Button, Di Resta or promote one of the Toro Rosso drivers.

Or get Hulkenberg before another top team gets him.
To weaken your opposition you can merley buy their targets yourself... and Hulkenberg IMO is one of the few available drivers who could do a better job than Webber. I don't think Ricciardo/Vergne can yet, Force India drivers no, Williams drivers not yet, maybe Bianchi but need to see him more, the big teams won't sell.
For me its a toss up between Hulkenberg or Webber

Remi Taffin, Renault’s F1 operations director, said he can understand Red Bull’s frustration. “But we have had only the second race. In neither race has Red Bull been able to show what is really possible, and in Australia the blame was partly ours. “At Sepang it was better from our side, and we got a taste of what to expect from Red Bull-Renault,” added Taffin. “As for us, the season actually began in Malaysia. By China, Red Bull will have solved its problems, and then the fun begins. “Of course I am not saying that we will win the race, but we have a lot of potential for development, both on the engine and the chassis side.

Interesting comment above... Sounds encouraging, redbull just need a good result and a podium would be a great morale boost.

I know i'm a little late with this post (was just able to sign up) and didn't know where to put it (can't start my own threads), but I was following Red Bulls closely in Malaysia and it really looked like they messed up Kvyat's strategy a bit. He was about a second faster than Ricciardo in pace (for whatever reason - apparently a problem with Ric's front wing) but he lost a bunch of time after 2nd and 3rd pit stop wave. He was brought in 3 laps after Ric for the 2nd stop and lost about 5 secs and lost about 8 sec after the 3rd stop. Anyone notice that? It seems he would have been able to challenge for 7th if not for that.

While Renault says the driveability of its power unit has improved significantly since the first race of the season, Taffin admits the engine has not been run at full performance yet in order to protect reliability. With reliability issues now under control, Taffin says Renault can afford to push the limits and get higher top speeds. Taffin believes the improvements should allow Red Bull and Toro Rosso to fight with Williams this weekend in China.

He had a collision with Hulkenberg which cost him about 7s.

http://formulaspy.com/features/team-mat ... gp-3-12423

Both Red Bull men pitted for new medium tyres under the safety car, and Daniil lost time due to having to stack behind Daniel. This shuffled the Russian back to 11th on the restart, while Ricciardo held onto 7th place. After passing Daniel on track, Daniil fought with Nico through Turns 1 & 2, with the Force India spinning the Red Bull at Turn 2. Nico would pick up a ten second penalty for the incident, while Daniil had to catch back up again having lost around 7 seconds due to the incident.

Yes, thanks, I saw that part too. Was talking about the 2nd and 3rd pit stops, seemed odd to me.

Red Bull reverts to 2014-spec brakes

http://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/126 ... grand-prix

"We have done quite a bit," Ricciardo said. "The main points from Malaysia were we had brake issues, a lot of overheating, so we have reverted back on a few things, even from last year which we knew was more efficient. Just because it's from last year it doesn't mean it's not better, so I guess we have taken a step back in that direction, but on top of that we have some aero upgrades, which look promising. The team has done quite a lot to rectify some issues and get us further up the grid."
